The staff were extremely polite, and even though we arrived at the restaurant late, they didn't rush us to leave and provided us with excellent service. “Nobu is above the price range where we normally eat out but as we are fans of Nippon food, thought it was worth visiting the grand daddy of Japanese/Peruvian restaurants. It was an enjoyable experience, if dear. Our main waiter was excellent, advising on how much to order, deciding on the sequence and pairing of food arrivals, and instructing us how to best to enjoy certain dishes. This was not the case with all staff who sometimes just dumped dishes on our table. Happily our main waiter stopped by to instruct us to taste the miso black cod on its own first before trying it with the dots of sauce and saving the wand of pickled ginger for the end. Similarly the dry miso powder served with the grilled asparagus was meant to be sprinkled on top, though we also used it as condiment for dipping. First to arrive was a double order of tuna tacos with dry miso. Very delicious, served at room temperature and the seasoning was more reminiscent of truffle than miso. Tiny portion, though, with taco shells just shy 3 inches in diameter. Second to arrive were the star dishes of black cod miso and grilled asparagus with dry miso, both served warm. Portion sizes were thankfully generous. The black cod was delicious because the sweet miso and mirin marinade was applied very thinly and grilled until slightly blackened, so the flavour was complex rather than just sweet. It didn't need the dots of extra marinade mixture on the plate which we both found too sweet. A long thin stalk of pickled ginger was decorative both for its sculptural shape as well as its fuschia to white ombre hue. However, it tasted just like the pickled ginger you normally get with sushi. Asparagus was attractively charred but still succulent so probably blanched prior to grilling. Apologies for the photos as we started tucking into this course before remembering to take a photograph. Next to arrive were chicken skewers with anticucho sauce. Chicken breast was shockingly tender and juicy. I do not know how the kitchen team achieved this texture. Anticucho sauce was okay but nothing special--pretty much the same as in other Nippon restaurants. The garnishes of pickled cauliflower, hijiki and daikon were a lovely contrast. A sweet puree of pumpkin was a nice foil for the anticucho sauce. This portion consisted of two large skewers. Finally our order of maki fillers arrived. We had been unnecessarily worried about tiny portions so ordered a few rolls to fill up on rice. Scheduling these to arrive last was last was a brilliant move on the part of our waiter, as these items were not spectacularly different from maki rolls available at any Japanese takeaway that uses decent fish and serves sushi rice at the correct temperature. I liked the futomaki style house roll served with soy. We also had yellow tail and Jalapeno roll served with ponzu. We took home some maki's in a takeaway box because we were full. The restaurant is windowless in the basement though there is a pretty honey wood decor, recalling both Scandi and Japanese aesthetics. The wood panelling also resulted in excellent acoustics. The disco beats from the bar were far away enough not to be disturbing. Portion sizes were mainly good. I was a little surprised that the only South American ingredient in our order was chilli. We washed down our meal with the cheapest red at £55 which was very pleasant. This is at a price point where we might not dine here again. Dinner for two including the bottle of house wine came to £219. I was glad for the experience and certainly learned some new things to try to reproduce at home.”

“It was my graduation dinner 21.07.23. Yippee I totally enjoyed every bit of it. My guests had a lot to say about the beautiful evening as well. The ambiance - was to die for Music - very soothing and chill Food - right amount of deliciousness Staff - warm and welcoming with very cool vibe. My experience was all shades of amazing. “Booking was easy online. While I needed to make a time change which required a phone call, it was quick and easy to do. We went for the all you can eat tacos, but found so many yummy things on the menu we ordered other items instead. The Ghost Rider Marguerita was delicioso, the homemade chips and guacamole was excellent (pomegranate seeds were a nice touch), the Mexican Fattoush salad was fantastic - finally some health vegetables on my holiday! The chicken and carne asada tacos were small yet superb. We could have ordred another plate, if we wanted, but opted for desert instead. The Empinada for me with chantilly creame was a perfect end. My wife apprciates ambiance, which Madera has even without the 15th floor view. Though of course, having the best meal on our holiday, while watching the sunset over London was a perfect end to our day. Last, but not least Sabuj took attentive care of us all throughout our experience. We are already planning on returning soon.”

“Excellent crispy pizzas. If you like pizzas such as those from Pizza Union (i.e. crispy ones), you'll love those from Pizza Squad as they have a similar style with more and better ingredients! That's surely why it is a bit pricier and well worth the extra quids. I enjoyed the Ham pizza best, the Octopus one was good as well and interesting but not as good as the Ham one. Very easy to order so you can pick up on your way home. Plus they are very friendly. Overall, if you like delicious crispy pizza, then look no further.”

“I’ve been to many restaurants, those which include restaurants that have multiple Michelin stars. I am super critical with reviews, but I never thought it would come to the day I would say this.. but this food “is food that brings you back home… back home to your mother”. That’s so rare in this day and age and think how much of an expert someone has to be to create that with Thai food for someone coming from Sri Lankan origin. Every ingredient is fresh, the blend of spices, the quality of meat and the food expertly made brings a dish which is truly homemade and delicious. I have never experienced anything that tastes truly homemade from a restaurant outside the home. I feel great after eating this too compared to other takeaways as it’s so natural. This is hands down the best restaurant in St Albans. Kat and her partner are such a superb couple running this restaurant, they are incredibly kind and accommodated to a special birthday request. They both came out and greeted us, which was super kind of them and proved many things but the biggest.. this is homemade food, food made from the heart. You want to try true Thai food.. don’t bother with the £800 flight, come here - to this very place a drive away in a lovely home situated in St Albans and you will experience it first hand. “The Vegan Bistro is one of my favourite places for breakfast and lunch. I absolutely love their overnight oats with poached apples which I usually enjoy after my morning practice at Triyoga Shoreditch. They are absolutely delicious. Their Acai bowl is to die for! What a TREAT! I often buy their Buddha bowls and Biryani for later as a lunch option. As spoiled as we are in Shoreditch, I must admit that it is not that easy to find a FULLY vegan place that offers takeaway as well. All the food options can also be enjoyed at the premises. Not only the food is delicious and nutritious but it is also extremely well-balanced. This is a very important, often overlooked, aspect. So, I really appreciate it. On top of everything, they offer great coffee. If you are into strong espresso, this is the place for you. The staff is super friendly and attentive.”

“It deserves all the good reviews I have read and more. Intimate 12 cover fine dining restaurant. You get to sit literally around the kitchen and admire the magic as it happens. 5 course tasting menu with the option of drink pairing. You can choose which kind of pairing you want. We opted for half with and half no alcohol. It was a great choice because while the wine was delicious the non alcoholic drinks stole the show. I have never tasted fish courses highlighting the flavour of the fish so respectfully. Everything was perfect. Unforgettable!”
