This is quite an old-fashoned hotel - plumbing, electrical fittings and so on. But the beds are comfortable and the view is astounding. Plenty of genuine Pennine wind! The place is let down by the quality of reception staff. Two young women, one in the evening and one in the morning; professional but not very welcoming. The young man on nights was however especially nice - I could not open my bathroom door at 2am and he sorted it all out quickly (it was a very stiff door handle, circular with no purchase and badly placed on the door, He was strong enough to open it.

Have stayed here many times but not in the winter. Unfortunately the hotel is too cold, room in the afternoon is freezing as heating does not come on until later. Its also unpleasant eating in the cold bar in the evening and restaurant in morning for breakfast in the morning. Other customers kept their coats and scarves on. Also the WIFI was poor, it wasn't possible for me to work remotely affectively due to the slow connection. I will come back but only for the 1 night stays in the summer months.

Arrived at 2pm, was day storm Claudia was on. Shown to room but it was freezing, maintenance guy said heating did not come on toll 4pm and would take an hour to reach our room before it even starts to warm up room. Used toilet then spent 35mins trying to flush it. Maintenance guy came did some adjustments then said can you just pump the handle 2 or 3 times quickly before flushing as he needed to order some parts. Ended up using toilets in bar to save the hassle. Went to bar around 6 to order food. Bar was freezing so never took coat off. On the upside food was tremendous and bar staff really apologetic about heating but said they can't override settings.

This venue has probably seen many-a-happy wedding or birthday bash and has all the makings of a great location with a little bit of care and attention. The lighting in the bar is a little 1990’s working men’s club, way too bright and cold. You’d think there were roadworks ongoing in there. The rooms are OK, the staff are kind and want to be helpful, the breakfast was a little difficult to chew. Amazing views do make it worth a visit, just bring your sunglasses and zinc for the bar.

Rooms are in direct need of a paint job , bathroom was run down looking but clean. Beds fresh . Service was great friendly staff. Location good for walkers and stunning views. Parking good. They take a Β£100 deposit in case n of damage which was odd considering paint in our room looked like people had been rubbing shoes along it and dripping tea .

Loved this place. Great staff and no fuss. Slightly quirky decor which I liked. Tired of grey hotels. Very comfortable room and excellent facilities. Evening meal was very tasty and trendy too. Breakfast was very good and the young staff serving were very efficient. So good we are hoping to go back this week.

Spectacular views, friendly, helpful staff, good quality food, & a quiet, cosy warm room with opening windows, a large king size comfortable bed, romantic subdued lighting, panoramic views and blackout curtains. The en-suite had a shower over the bath, nice large bath towels, complimentary toiletries, good lighting. Flat screen tv, telephone, hair dryer & tea/coffee making facilities with biscuits. Pool table in separate room next to the bar. Ample free car parking & a helipad. This was our second visit & we would book here again.

Sunday lunch with the family. We booked at short notice for a party of 9. Good choice of meats, loads of vegetables and very generous portion. Staff were all super friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. Extremely good value for Β£9 .

It was very pleseant and clean. Was easily accessible and to find with Google maps. Later check out is fantastic so you can get a good shift in, in the morning. However, there was a consistent throbbing noise as if a broken fan was operating all night and the wind noise was very noticeable. The bath is small. My 5'9" self struggled to get a good soak in so there was no chance of my partner getting in to join me. Overall, for the price it was still a good stay in a nice area and all the staff was friendly and polite.
