have been coming here for years and generally are able to find what we need - even dog friendly! Staff are usually very helpful as well. However have recently experienced that they employ one of these predatory parking companies- got a £60 for parking for over 2 hours (parked for 2 hours 15 min as we were trying to find the right kit for a holiday), which is absolutely ridiculous. I've raised this with the store and they said they will resolve, but it is an absolute administrative nightmare that one shouldn't have to deal with when shopping. Have spent a lot of money here over the years and this is ridiculous. Their website also has nothing about time limited parking and even says they have "free parking available."

Wow what a place This is the first time I have been here and deffo going to go in again Really nice staff and chatty customers too Amazing stock. From the tents to the outdoor gear. The clothes are great so much to choose from. Everything and anything can be found in here! I could spend hours in here. Super impressed with the tent displays outside! Very clean and organised store Keep up the great work

Good selection of fishing equipment, clothing, footware, and bait. Reasonably priced. A selection of bivvies built so you can make an informed choice. Served by Millie today and received help from another staff member as I bought the last jera 5s 5 season sleeping bag that was on display. Always good value, clean, and friendly staff

A fresh, light, spacious and modern layout. It looks as though it has recently had a refit. On my recent visit (Thursday 5 pm) the store was very quiet, the staff outnumbered the customers two to one. The members of staff I interacted with were friendly and helpful. I'm not personally a fan of the membership card pricing structure in the store (non-members pay a considerably higher price than card holders). I believe membership is currently £5. In addition to the usual outdoor camping equipment, this store had a coffee shop, horse riding equipment section, an angling section and some very premium, expensive electric bikes.

My third pair of Kuhl jeans, they really do take a battering. Been shopping here since 2006, just after it opened. If my wife and I had both used The Great Outdoors, she would've been converted. Bought my 5th pair of boots or shoes from here. In fact most of my kids early lives have been spent inside this shop. Fantastic Costa set in the far side, bit like the old one that used to be upstairs, once upon a time. Spoken to shop who advised about getting a Rab jacket cleaned. Great store as always.

The new refurbished store covers so many different outdoor pursuits it's crazy. Really good choice, and the prices aren't that bad at all. Thoroughly recommended!

Large go outdoors has lots of variety, one of the biggest stores I have been to, great selection of tents outside so you can see what your buying and good discount if you pay for card.

John G was very helpful and knowledgeable in the tents and camping department. He gave us the best deal on a family tent and appropriate accessories. The kids really enjoyed trying out the horse riding simulation too. A very pleasant and successful shopping trip.

The actual shop itself is quite cool. And the things they sell seem to be reasonable quality, but the way they pretend items cost less than they do is really sneaky and makes me want to go somewhere more transparent. There were some walking boots I wanted to buy. The label said they were £89, down from £135. I got to the till and she asked if I had Go Outdoors card. I said no. She asked if I wanted one. I said no. She said it cost £135. I said it was in the sale and cost £89. She said it only cost £89 if I had a card. It didn't say this anywhere on the item or on any signs. I said okay to the card and she revealed the card cost £5 itself. So the actual price I had to pay was £94. Unnecessary complications and little backhanded tricks to get my money will not make me go back again.
