Tried buying something today, went to the till, only to be told, by a very rude operative, I came to the till from the wrong end and should have queued from the other end. There was NO queue. I walked out without paying. Merry Christmas Matalan NOT.
Customer service at its finest! I visited your Merthyr Tydfil store on Friday 29th August, the queue for tills was quite long so I braved the self serve tills, I am not a fan of these but thought I’d give them a go. I encountered some issues with the machine and security tags and this wonderful young girl came over and helped me, she was so friendly, didn’t make me feel silly and chatted to me, she gave me her time which is so rare these days as everyone is in a rush! She gave me some tips on what to do next time and scanned them for me and packed the bag for me. She was absolutely wonderful. She told me she was new, I have to say she is a credit to your company, so polite and friendly. I saw on her name badge she was called Grace, please pass on my thanks. Very happy shopping experience.
Visited the store yesterday around 1400 and despite being quite busy the place was clean and well organised. The fitting room wasn't staffed which I find a shame but it was still clean and organised. I paid at the till at 1421 and the 2 women serving were both lovely, friendly and helpful. Top marks for this Matalan (unlike my local one in Camberley where the staff are consistently super unfriendly).
Clean, well organised displays. Lovely friendly, helpful staff. Nearly always get what i need. Good selection of gym clothing, reasonably good prices.Many of my gym friends get theirs there too. Often buy more than intended.
Excellent range of reasonably priced clothing. Very extensive ranges. A decent little Christmas department as well! Well worth a visit.
Woefully slow checkouts - always plus they have closed the fitting rooms to save money. Not saving US money in taking stuff back or the planet.
Closed their fitting rooms to cut costs. Can return items in 14 days, but not easy if you live 30 miles away.

Quick and easy to find what you need. USED to have plenty of till staff. Unfortunately gone and now just self service and card only. Doesnt help when there were 17 in the que and most wanting to pay cash with just 2 tills man'd. So loses 1 and half stars That said.3.5star Clothes good quality at competitive prices, and staff on shift very polite and helpful. So ALWAYS go here 1st before going to the monstrosity over the road.
Staff are lovely ..but . .waited 35 minutes in the queue today as they've replaced most of the checkouts with self service, absolutely boiling hot ,felt so ill ,
