Decent staff. However the room was dirty. Pictures hanging off the wall, ceilings not holding the lights up. Basic stuff in a hotel which should be addressed. Dust everywhere and just basically not clean. Didn't even want to shower there!
Ordered food, 50 minutes later, still no food. Got a refund and left disappointed. Won’t be back. In response to your reply. 03.11 This is not correct. We were not informed that there would be a wait when we ordered. We were told of the delay when we asked staff after 30 minutes of waiting. In fact when we left, you apologised because of the poor communication and said that we should have been told there was a wait for food. Dishonest on top of bad service. Avoid.
Great location and the staff were excellent. They were so friendly and accommodating. The radiator in our unsuited bathroom didn't appear to be working (however, we didn't report this to staff) and the mattress is probably due for replacing. However, the staff, atmosphere, quality of the food and drink, and the cleanliness more than made up for it. We are looking forward to going back the next time we plan to visit family in the area.
Had lunch here with some friends. Large popular pub and not ruined by a makeover. The food was very good and reasonably priced. They have special offers depending on the day of the week. The Harvey's beer was in good condition. It was a Tuesday and fairly quiet. I understand it gets busy in the evenings and at weekends. There is a large outdoor seating area if you like that sort of thing. Will definitely go back when next in Lewes.
The Dorset is a great spot for a sunny pint outside in the summer. It gets quite busy with quite a good atmosphere on days like that, so it's sometimes hard to get a seat if you get there too late on a Friday! Definitely recommend for the summer, but less so indoors in winter - though the indoors is quite cosy. The service is okay - no real complaints. The nacho platter is also sooo good!
We stayed here the night before we moved to Lewes. The rooms are good, It's not as noisy as you might think, being above a pub. The bar service is great. The food is good. The beer is Harvey's and my wife says the white wine is nice. And it's just around the corner from our house!
What a lovely atmosphere to walk into after a long journey. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food is quite basic but really good value and very enjoyable. I will be staying here again when I'm down this way.
Very good location, nice pub ( was shut the saturday night we stayed due to staff party). But the lack of savoury options at breakfast let it down, a bowl of boiled eggs or slices of cheese and ham were definitely missing. Room was a little cold, heating on timer not on till 5pm. But all in all, good price for such a central location.
Great pub. Friendly staff. Came here on Tuesday and burger and beer for £10. Really good burger. Nice array of beers. Worth a visit.
