Booked a table for a meal with a friend. 1st visit since going there in my 20’s. On arrival, pub felt uninviting with an tv on very loudly and not much atmosphere. Dining area especially uninviting, very bare , especially as it’s Christmas time. We ordered our main course which was served quickly and was tasty and hot. Based on this, we decided to have a dessert. Went to the bar to order at 20.40pm to be told very abruptly that the kitchen was closed! We then spoke to a staff member who was cleaning tables told, who checked this was the case and upon confirming it was, suggested we went to Tesco and buy cakes! We said it didn’t say on the menu that food is only available until 8.30. We were told it is on the door. We looked on our way out at both entrances and couldn’t find anything about food service times. Definitely would not recommend .

The Grenadier Pub in Hove is everything you could want from a local — friendly atmosphere, great food, and staff who genuinely care about their customers. Every visit feels welcoming and relaxed, whether you’re popping in for a quick pint or a bitta grub with friends. A special mention has to go to Kiera, who has been absolutely outstanding since she started. Her customer service has always been second to none — she remembers faces, makes everyone feel at home, and goes above and beyond to make sure everyone leaves with a smile. It’s hard to imagine the Grenadier without her, and she’ll be very much missed by all the regulars. Wishing her all the best for whatever comes next!

I’ve been to The Grenadier Pub a few times now, and it never disappoints. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the food is pretty good value for money – generous portions, tasty, and fairly priced. The staff really make the difference here. Kiera always greets you with a big smile and delivers excellent customer service – friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Hallam is also a pleasure to deal with – always polite, professional, and helpful, adding to the great experience. It’s the kind of place where you feel looked after and appreciated as a customer. Highly recommend if you're looking for a chilled spot with good food and great service. I’ll definitely be back!

My family and I enjoyed a lovely meal. All cooked perfectly and great value. The staff were polite and friendly. Leah was extremely thoughtful, checking that we had everything we needed. When one of the children spilt a drink Leah dealt with it kindly and swiftly. We were made to feel very welcome. Thank you! Will definitely be back

This is a superb pub! Friendly enough to be welcomed like a local, big enough to disappear and get some work done with a pint! Food is superb and VERY reasonably priced. Staff are great and quickly remember what you drink - has become my local whilst working away from home!
