   **Horatio’s Bar** on Brighton Pier — Visiting Horatio’s in the afternoon felt a little like paying premium for a front-row seat in the world’s grumpiest aquarium. You walk past the turnstile, fork over your **£2 entry just to step onto the pier** (yes, that’s the cover charge before the fun even begins), then wander to Horatio’s hoping for a relaxing drink while the little ones shriek with joy (or terror) on the roller-coasters. Inside, you’ll find large TVs set to sport, gleaming like beacons of televised doom. Want to hear the match? Sit outside next to one and endure **ear-splitting volume**—I leaned in to hear what the commentator said and nearly lost my hearing. Meanwhile, patrons nearby were whispering bitter truths: “£9 for a pint? Are they writing their own currency now?” Indeed, many muttered about drink prices being absurd. On the service front, staff were friendly-ish and quite attentive. The view is spectacular though: coast, sea, kids whirling — the classic Brighton postcard. That helps soften the sting of paying through the nose for a lukewarm lager. In summary: Horatio’s is great if your priorities are **kids entertained + coastal view**, and if you carry a thick wallet (or are willing to go light on the drinks). But if you came for a calm, affordable tipple — you’ll be paying for the view, the spectacle and the audacity of charging for the pleasure of being there.

   I was absolutely shocked of the size of pasta they gave me.... I don't know if I should cry or laugh about it bit too expensive. Apart from that pizza was not too bad.

   The food was okay - the pizza size was small and the beer wasn’t chilled. The service was the best thing as the servers were friendly, helpful and nice. The view is good but the seagulls create menace if you get your food out and you have to move in (no fault of the restaurant)

   Just visited to pick up a quick drink. The young man on the bar was without the doubt the rudest and most disinterested person I've ever seen in service. I felt sorry for the woman who had to direct him because he had zero initiative or customer service. I don't expect much by way of service but this guy needs a rocket.

   Great party venue and amazing views. Holds over 100 people and if you are lucky with the weather you have a choice of 2 outside spaces.

   First time eating here. We bought fish & chips and pizza from the places outside and order a couple of things off the main menu, was decent value for money given being right on the end of the pier. Quick service, but it wasn't too busy. Toilets had a bit of a sticky floor but nothing too bad.

   I ordered an Horatio's fully loaded burger, which is one of their own, but I received another one. I asked them to review my order but no one seemed to bother about me. However, I ate that one and left. There was no pulled pork in my burger.

   Heavily overpriced.... It was Pride weekend during our visit to the bar which is located towards the end of the beer, great location with a lovely outdoor seating area. There is a great large screen which was showing the football.. good spot to watch a match. We cannot comment on food as we only had a drink and actually did not see anyone eating. The toilets were located within, to the side of the bar, these were clean. I wish I had known the prices before ordering, I thought I would go local and ordered a pint of Brighton Palace Pier but at £6.45 I should have ordered a nice drink!!! I am glad I didn't order a double Captain Morgan at £10.50!!! Overall, lovely location especially in the sun. The drink was very very EXPENSIVE, but we were in Brighton and right in the main tourist trap zone, so I guess we should have expected higher prices... but not this high?Perhaps tap water would have done the job next time.

   Not sure what was happening during visit, yesterday. A lot of staff, very little training. Made my order after queueing, she must have been new as she had difficulty putting my order through and did not get much help from the numerous experienced staff. Well 2 of my friends order came, they finished and me and my other friend were still waiting. After 25 minutes I called a member of staff to enquire and she does not speak English, she got someone to come over and I asked about the delay and very blaise she replied I could cancel or wait another 10 minutes. I waited and the waitress who does not speak English came over with her translation app, where I said we are still waiting. She went to the kitchen and eventually came back with our food. I ate out of hunger by then. I hope the staff who doesn't speak English finds a better place to work. Seriously look at training in drinks mixtures (Southern Comfort and Lemonade should not be hard to order) and using the till.
