ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! Some of the best food I've had in Southampton for years. A very warm welcome from the staff with fast and friendly service accompanied by some of the best pub food I've had in years. The Beef & Ale pie is packed full of meat with light pastry and served with vegetables you can actually taste. The Surf and Turf is to die for with a basic Rib Eye steak cooked perfectly and tasty garlic prawns that melt in your mouth. Sensible money for very good quality food and service. We will definitely be back!

We booked Sunday dinner for 10 people and ordered ahead. The service was attentive, friendly and efficient. The food was hot and delicious. Two of our party were quite late due to their young baby and staff kept their dinners back until they were ready with no drama, as soon as the couple arrived the dinners appeared and were still hot and delicious. A big thumbs up for the Southampton Arms. Thank you.

What a great lil pub to visit. We are from the states staying at a nearby hotel and wanted to try some local food, we read some good reviews and decided to give it a try & what a great decision that was. My husband and I both ordered specials, I chose the sea bass and wow was it delicious and looked fancy, my husband ordered a roasted chicken dish with a red wine sauce, he devoured it. We also tried onions rings with 3 sauces, they were piping hot when they came to the table. We ended the meal with sticky toffee pudding & custard sauce. Wowza it was good and melts in your mouth. I'd also like to say thank you Carley for the great service you gave us. We were greeted so cheerfully, what a great bubbly personality and she stayed on top of our drink refills. This place is the whole package, quaint atmosphere, great food and incredible service. Definitely come try this place, if you get the chance.

We were visiting from Florida for a cruise, we stayed at the Hilton at the Cricket grounds. This pub was the closest in walking distance. So we took a nice stroll and we were so glad we did. The steak and mushroom pie, chips with gravy were fantastic. The atmosphere was so laid back and friendly. A local man was having a milestone birthday so I sent a pint over to him. He came by to chat with us and share a few stories. It’s one of my family’s best memories in England. If we are ever back in Southampton we will absolutely make a trip out again. If you are looking for a great hometown pub experience I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Although the food was nice, it appeared that there was only one competent waitress managing everything out front. Another staff member seemed to be struggling, and I noticed her eating someone else's leftovers while cleaning the table, which took a long time as we waited to order our drinks. The food is quite expensive. Do I think it's worth it? No. However, with some improvements to the front-of-house service, I believe it could justify the prices better. Also, please be aware that the car park is in poor condition, with several large potholes—be careful with your car.

Very good. We were a party of 4 with 2 dogs and had a vert position dining experience. The staff were friendly and food was lovely. We felt very relaxed. I miss Southampton pubs now that we live in Wales. We don't have this sort of pub locally to us and it's a shame.

Amazing hospitality and food. Huge sit down meal for 22 people and could not have been better. Food was amazing and friendly, welcoming staff! So grateful for all the hard work.

We visited for the first time whilst on holiday. Dog and child friendly traditional pub. The garden is a bit noisy with traffic, but is ok to use. The food was nice and presentable. We like crunchy chips, but if that isn't a preference others may find them too hard. Very friendly, helpful staff who happily assisted when I asked for something I could put with the vegetarian burger I ordered. I noticed another review mentioned it was bland as it is literally burgers and a bun with no relish or salad. I asked for salsa and sour cream which was kindly given and made a big difference to the overall taste and texture.

Came down from London to watch the Cricket. Plenty of seating inside and outside with a car park! Beautiful beer garden to the rear and outdoor seating to the front. Good range of drinks and ciders and bar snacks. Only downside was that bar food stops serving at around 2pm which was a little frustrating. Great service, atmosphere and would definitely visit again.
