   Absolutely disgraceful service. Happy to take money from Scottish customers as long as it’s English notes! Despite the fact that Scottish banknotes are legal currency and clearly state “Bank of Scotland,” I was told they’re not accepted, or that the machine wouldn’t take them. An absolute joke. I’ll never shop at Matalan again, be warned if shopping in Matalan in England!!

   self check outs don't work, put someone on the till! That when I do go to pay with a person there messing about trying to move the scan over. Just scan my stuff and let me pay. Walked out in the end. You guys lost my business and I won't be coming back. Just keep it simple. Amizon pay and done with me tomorrow no faffing

   It’s a large store, but feels dated. Whilst I did find what I was looking for, I did not like the fact I was pressured into setting up a ‘loyalty’ card. Whilst I appreciate the benefits of it etc, this was my first time visiting and to have the till staff to just set it up for me and then throw away the information part of it was a little abrupt.

   I recently visited Matalan in Basingstoke and I couldn't be more pleased with my experience! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by friendly and helpful staff who went above and beyond to assist me in finding what I needed. The store layout was excellent, making it easy to navigate and find exactly what I was looking for. The variety of products available was impressive, and I was able to find everything from clothing and homeware to accessories, all at affordable prices. I was particularly impressed with the quality of the items I purchased. Not only were they stylish and on-trend, but they also exceeded my expectations in terms of durability and comfort. Additionally, the checkout process was quick and efficient, and the staff were courteous and professional throughout. Overall, I had a fantastic shopping experience at Matalan in Basingstoke and I will definitely be returning in the future.    Sorry by looking at the existing comments , I was not alone . My whole day ruined by the rudeness of the bossy person. Can some one please teach the customer skills to her. Self checkout means , customer can scan their items on their own , Not constantly poking at the customer .

   Some Staff are rude bossy and interfering. You go to pay on the self serve and then you are told to go on self serve even though you were, then someone is standing over you watching your every move and telling you to do this do that put this in there. I accidentally double scanned because the interfering was so off putting she tutted about it when I done it. The women who man the self checkouts need to learn to step back and be more helpful and friendly instead of sticking their nose in when its not needed. Awful experience everytime I go in there.

   Small blonde lady with glasses who is a manager at this store needs more customer service training. Not impressed with her horrible attitude. This is a customer facing job that requires good customer service so clearly in the wrong job. Normally don't have an issue with this store but just by one person's actions it really doesn't make me want to shop here again. Horrible experience. This store also needs a bigger menswear section, not a lot of variety for men.

   Clean, tidy, bright shop with home goods section. Found gorgeous drinking glasses and gin goblets. Incredibly soft bedding in bright colours. Self service tills to help stay covid compliant. Staff members were very helpful
