I’m really happy with the customer service at John Lewis. I was served by Rania in the children’s section β€” she was very attentive, asked if I needed a gift receipt, recommended additional items that I ended up purchasing, and wrapped everything beautifully.

I’m really disappointed with my recent experience at John Lewis Reading. I wanted to buy an item that the website showed as β€œ1 in stock.” To be safe, I called customer support, and they also confirmed that the Reading store had one available. I asked for the store’s phone number so I could double‑check before travelling, but the two numbers I was given turned out to be for completely unrelated shops β€” a football club store and The Range. As it turned out, they don’t have store numbers anymore. Despite the confusion, I decided to travel to the Reading store anyway. When I arrived, I was told the item had already been sold. I explained that customer support had confirmed stock and that I had been told more were arriving, but the only option offered was to put my name on a mailing list. No ability to reserve, no alternative solution, and no acknowledgement of the wasted journey. The whole experience was really frustrating and entirely avoidable. Incorrect information, poor stock accuracy, and a lack of ownership from staff made this a very disappointing visit. I had appalling customer service from John Lewis 10 years ago and stopped shopping there as a result. Today, I decided to give it another chance, assuming that a proud British company would uphold high standards. Unfortunately, nothing has changed. How it continues to operate with such poor customer service is beyond me.

My wife and I had a nursery appointment & consultation for first time parents with Simon and he was absolutely fantastic. He tolerated my dumb questions and explained everything very well. He made the experience very lovely and knowledgeable. Recommend him and this service for all first time parents!

I purchased a formal wear gift that required gift wrapping. Unfortunately, the suit was too large for the oversized wrap. However, the kind customer service team (Claire & Carol) worked their magic, pouring love into the process to make it work. I truly appreciate their outstanding support and dedication in going above and beyond.

Very tidy store with a variety of brand names in the make up, haberdashery, electronics and clothing brands. The prices are more than expensive all around, but you can pick up some designer goods for a good price in the sale. The store staff are not overly welcoming, so be prepared to look into the product details yourself. The beauty care staff do not have a diverse level of knowledge of make up or skin care pertaining to different colour skin colours, even though they sell too brand names. You have lifts and elevators for access to all floors, not very busy at tomes. The nearest carpark is the Oracle. You can check online for the stock before collecting in-store.

Been shopping in John Lewis for many years and the in-store service always been nice. However, maybe sometimes the staff got bad times, a young lady in beauty store on Ground floor was quite rude and impatient on my enquiry about a deal policy when making payment. Won’t come back ever again.

I have always shopped here for my children's shoes and for years never had a problem, this time however, there was only one member of staff in the department and the shelves and floor were totally trashed! Covered in odd shoes and boxes of shoes and looked awful. We took a ticket but the lady working just came out and said 'can I help you' even though there were other people waiting before us. They did not use the ticket number so the number on the screen didn't change. After waiting for half an hour and measuring our own feet as well as another child's for another parent, we left to shop elsewhere. All this while the neighbouring departments had spare members of staff and no one offered to help which is terrible! I will think twice before I go back there which is such a shame as department stores like this are few and far between and John Lewis was always the best in town!

The customer service refused to return a broken pot which has a lifetime warranty. Instead they asked me to email the manufacturer with detailed information and pictures. This will take forever. They make customers’ life really difficult.

Good shop to buy all staff and, sometime lil bit expensive, you can find clothes, cosmetics and perfumes, electronics and home staff and stationary. There is also a cafe in first floor that can offer good breakfast and lunch. There is a toilette as well and money exchange currency shop at top floor. All sale assistenza are really kind and place is tidy and clean.

This is quite a big John Lewis store on multiple floors and fairly diverse range of products. One of the few places in Reading you can get mens Barker shoes. John Lewis stores seem to have a vibe of their own and I like the vibe in this store. Some of the products can be on the expensive side but then they are quality products. Okay so define quality but just by look and feel (and smell if fragrance) you can tell the quality is good. Also, to me, good quality products always seem to be heavier. Friendly staff. Good light levels. Broad range. Toilets if you need them are upstairs in the ladies underwear section (bizarrely). Oh yes and nearly forgot - they sell and stock Creed fragrances and have testers of all the ones they sell. I may have lashed on copious amounts of Green Irish Tweed (the fragrance police weren’t there). Recommended.
