Excellent place to stay, near enough to Southampton ports for cruises. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, meals were very good and room extremely comfortable and clean. Would highly recommend and will definitely be staying here again in the future.
I use The Pilgrim regularly as a local and my family use the hotel as they live abroad, always great! But a special mention today, we went to see Santa there and Santa himself was great!! Took his time talking to the children, showing them the nice list in his book, posing for photos and giving presents. We got amazing pictures, better than a much more expensive one we went to see. Absolutely great value and will be back to see him next year. Thank you :) Side note: would be good to have him in a separate tent/area so we could use the undercover outdoor area as it was raining and so busy in the pub, we couldn’t stay for a drink. Still enjoyed it though.
Needing somewhere to stay pre cruise i was seeking a local accommodation and food so that I had an easy drive on the day of departure. I did not want a international brand hotel but rather something more querky. In the pilgrim inn I found it. From the lovely large bedroom room to the thatched adjacent pub myself and my wife could have wished for nothing better. Friendly staff (special mention for Emily) excellent service great food ( best burger ever says my wife) to a welcoming breakfast. The decor was bright and nicely done. If I'm cruising again just found my go to place.
Of the 3 pubs in Marchwood, this is by far the best. The building itself is stunning, with well set up outside seating. Food is good, though the menu has been reduced, but what comes out is really nice and comes out quickly. Staff are great, too. My only minor complaint is that the drinks are on the pricey side.
Not serving lunch when we showed up at lunchtime. A sign outside would have saved us some effort. That said, good beer and nice people. Just wish they could be a tad more transparent. We weren't the only disappointed arrivals... EDIT: Management took the time to understand what happened and on what day and were polite and professional about it. While I hope to return and sample the food some day, I am moving them up to 5 stars, for an otherwise very good experience and having management that cares about their clientele. Support your local pubs!
A lovely ambience greets you at this 18th century thatched pub and restaurant. A fairly basic but interesting range of dishes on the menu. Staff were very attentive and the wait for food was very good. The website advertises an extensive range of puddings yet on the night there was only a handful of those available. All in all, a pleasant experience and a good food quality and quantity. I would say it is medium priced and a two course meal for two with one drink each cost £55.
Good food, although I haven't eaten here for a while though so I'll only comment on the beer... Fantastic beer, really fresh, guest ales are always interesting. Plenty of spirits, mixers and lager's. Doesn't cost the earth. Lovely and cosy inside, great covered and sheltered seating area outside (with IR heaters)
There is something special about this place. I came tonight by myself and had a really great time. I was welcomed by a very polite gentlman, my table was nice and clean and had flowers, a candle and tap water on it. Food was amazing as always. Honestly, such a great place to come either you're alone or with other people. Thank you!
Beautiful location. Easy access and plenty of parking spaces. Staff (especially a lady named Jordan) were very friendly and welcoming. Gave us all the information needed on the day and popped me a message a week prior about check-in to make everything a smooth process. Lovely pub/restaurant for lunch/dinner/breakfast. Lots of choices and very well prepared. The only snag is that the hot breakfast was on a menu and it would be helpful for future visitors to know that when they book their stay with breakfast included that the hot breakfast (on the menu) is also included in their stay. Delicious food, friendly staff and beautiful location. Can't wait to stay again! 10/10 would recommend. Easy access to Southampton. Quite remote and quiet space.
