AVOID AVOID AVOID What a dump! I wouldn't let my dog stay here! You turn up and park up, get your belongings out and then head into the hotel? Only to be greeted with a sign that tells you to walk up to the next door building to check in. Met with the receptionist who had about as much enthusiasm as a wooden plank. Was given the key to room 18. Then you have to walk all the way back to the Lawn hotel only to be greeted by what could only be described as a fishmongers smell. Once in the hotel there are no signs telling you where the rooms are and was told by a lady in slippers and dressing gown that it was on the top floor. Once in the room I thought it was ok but a bit small, very grubby. I thought I would make myself a coffee, couldn't find a kettle or anything. Eventually found it in the desk cupboard, no teaspoon? Went to the toilet and it blocked on first use? Tried to have a shower but the shower head sprayed water out sideways, there is no control over the temperature of the shower so if you like it scalding then it's for you. Stepped out of the shower and slipped on the floor, from all the water spraying out sideways from the shower head. Now in A and E for concussion. Just avoid avoid avoid.

BED BUGS!!! Pest uncontrolled hotel. Do not stay in this hotel. My room was apparently clean but in the middle of the night despite having checked the linens first, I woke up with lots of itching on my body. I then found in the morning several bed bugs crawling under and over the sheets. I notified the reception showing them the red dots all over my body the numerous bugs and the pictures. They offered not to charge me for the room and send pest control, but the problem is the 30 years old mattress and beds, the carpet floors that canβt be daily cleant, etc. I doubt pest control will be able to solve the problem Please avoid if you do not want to bring undesired party crashes home.

Terrible hotel, woman who works there doesn't even wanna be there. Breakfast was awful, I asked for poached eggs and was told no. Breakfast slammed in front of me. Stayed in summer and the room was absolutely boiling. The room soaks up the heat in the day and due to the lack of air flow, stays hot all night. I had to sleep naked with no sheets

Good hotel, friendly staff. Looks as though building may be new. Few little snags in rooms but not anything to ruin you stay. Overall very good & well priced.

Would not let me leave no stars.... Do not stay here unless you've just escaped from prison (Death Row) and want to feel like you've just been away for a nice holiday. I am not joking it's horrible, dirty, smelly and really unwelcoming. (Photos available upon request) It feel like it's been a half way house for drug addicts, but somebody is trying to change it. Our room had more stains than a Daz advert, with curtains that let more light in than an albinos eyes. Horrible, horrible, horrible, do not stay here .

Booked this place whilst on a business trip over some time. The rooms are very clean and facilities are very presentable. The staff member at the reception is very friendly and very approacheable. There isnt a vending machine so you may have to take a long walk to get to shop. I will recommend to anyone looking to stay over in Reading as I am pleased with the services and staff member is brilliant and very helpful.

Where does one begin? With the rude, surly receptionist mind numbingly slow, stepping into the room to find stains all over the carpet, the bed "mattress" like concrete with two thin pillows. The dim inadequate lighting almost too dim to read by. Couldn't get any worse could it? Yep, up in the morning trying to shave in a sink with a plug from "any old plug will do" store that sits nicely on top of the plughole and watches all the water drain away. Nice shower enclosure, but the pole is all rusty and the soap tray is filthy. The loo won't flush properly. After an hour of trying I give up. If they cared enough to hunt me down they've got plenty of dna. Down to breakfast. Large, airy room. The receptionist from last night now in tracky bottoms sweatshirt hair scrunged up takes my order for full English. Plonked down. Bread sausage, one piece of rubbish bacon, congealed beans, dried egg and a hash brown cooked on one side and half raw on the other. This is Β£65. It's because of places like this that places like Premier Inn, (and no I can never find one at Β£19.99 either) came to our shores. Left breakfast. Coffee was OK but lukewarm, glass for orange juice was dirty. Great day ahead. Truly, on leaving, it can only get better.
