I got to have the company’s Christmas lunch there. The mood was very cosy and the service was great. The food was very tasty. I got as a starter the oven squid, for lunch the bobotie and for desert the banoffee pie. You can see by the images that the presentation was impressive and the taste was even better. I really recommend it.

Absolutely delightful Sunday afternoon carvery. The atmosphere is welcoming and warm. The staff work as a team to ensure a top notch dining experience. Only ten minutes drive from Reading station. Their garden is splendid and well worth getting out of the city for authentic country charm.

Delicious roast and loved all the choices plus you could have as much as you wanted of all the sides. Lovely warm atmosphere and it was packed which shows how popular it is. Our waitress Holly was very attentive and looked after us really well.

First time having a carvery here and it was from a recommendation from my mum, who doesn’t usually like carvery’s. This was the best carvery we’ve ever had. Great choice and really generous portions of meat. Friendly staff, good service and lovely atmosphere generally. Will definitely be back

One of the worst pub experiences I’ve ever had. Came in for drinks and some lunch, but the only option was a sad-looking buffet. The so-called manager – a brunette member of staff – was shockingly rude, snarky, and even laughed and pointed at other customers. I left feeling disrespected, hungry, and genuinely sorry I ever set foot in this place. If you value decent food, basic respect, or even a pleasant atmosphere, avoid this pub at all costs. There are far better places that actually care about their customers.

A very nice Carvery. Very generous with the meat (the veggie option was nice too apparently) All of the veg was very nice, but the roast potatoes, although pretty good, could have been slightly better. The service was good. The beer garden is lovely, it must be great in the summer. The pub / restaurant was very busy when we were there (Sunday lunchtime) so I advise booking.

Good food - pie of the day for me. Generous portions. Nice furnishings and no sneaky service charge added on to the menu prices. Thanks Crown for a pleasant afternoon

Bedrooms are "shabby chic" but very comfortable. Dinner was excellent! Well prepared, well seasoned and lots of it. The ribs are particularly good - really meaty - and I'd recommend the South African Share Platter. The next mornings breakfast was of generous proportions and again well prepared.

Such a wonderful lunch here today. Food was incredible, staff were so lovely and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We travel 2 hours to meet family and it was well worth the journey. Thank you !

Second or third time we have been to wakes here. Always made welcome by the team. The food offering has always been very good, plenty of choice and well prepared. Several different sizes of room available for private events. If you are looking for a venue for modest sized events look no further. Lots of parking and easy to find.
