Perfect Stay for Business Travelers I had a fantastic three-night stay while on a business trip. Valentina and Miranda were outstanding—friendly, professional, and always ready to help. The rest of the team were great too, making everything smooth and stress-free. The freshly cooked breakfast was a real highlight, far better than the usual buffet. My room was spotless, quiet, and comfortable, with excellent Wi-Fi that made working easy. Highly recommend for anyone traveling for work!

I've been staying at The Raven since March 2025, and overall it's been a positive experience. The staff here are friendly and helpful, always willing to assist with a smile. In particular, I want to mention Miranda, who has been absolutely excellent. Throughout my stay, I’ve seen her consistently go above and beyond – she works hard, brings great energy to the team, and has put forward some genuinely good ideas to improve the place. Her efforts haven’t gone unnoticed. That said, the hotel itself is a bit dated in parts and could use some refurbishment. The Wi-Fi has also been patchy and not very reliable, which can be frustrating, especially for those needing to work or stay connected. However, I’ve noticed that the management is making improvements, and things are heading in the right direction.

Spent an evening at The Raven Hotel after arriving by train from London; very convenient to train station. Rooms were clean and comfortable, housekeeping staff kindly helped us up multiple sets of stairs with our luggage. We had reservations for dinner at 7:00PM, and had arrived back after our Bombay Distillery tour at 6:15PM. As there were only four tables occupied, we asked if we could be seated early and were told to sit whenever we liked and our server would be with us shortly. We sat for 30 minutes, watching the restaurant staff chatting with each other behind the bar and ignoring us. After one member of our party left, the two of us who remained moved to a smaller table in front of the bar. Still ignored. By 7PM my husband finally walked to the bar and asked if someone could please take our order. A surly waitress took our order and we were served at 7:15. The food was outstanding, although the service sub-par. Had to haggle over removing a dessert from our bill that we never received. We had reservations for brunch there the next day which I cancelled after returning to our room. Rooms and hospitality from housekeeping were excellent; food was good, but not worth what we had to go through to get it. I worked in hospitality for several years, this is not how you get repeat business.

We stayed overnight as had an early appointment in Hook. The room was clean with a good sized bed double wardrobe chairs and a desk. The bed was comfortable and we slept well. Had dinner in the pub/restaurant and it had a good choice, good portion sizes and decent prices. We paid for bed and breakfast and enjoyed scrambled egg with smoked salmon and then a selection from the continental breakfast. Location is great for Hook station. Must log car details with reception if staying or at bar if just going for food and drink, otherwise you would need to pay. Car park signage makes it appear you have to pay to park and our daughter did pay before entering the bar and seeing the enter details for free parking sign!

A very warm welcome from Miranda who had us both checked in and told we're our rooms were. Nice-sized room and powerful shower and great breakfast. Rooms could do with a freshen up good location and a good pub grub menu with decent portions. I would use again

Reception was amazing with great service however, the breakfast was foul, the cleaners barge into your room even when the do not disturb sign is showing. Standards could be so much better

Quick drink after work. Well priced good selection of drinks. It seemed busy and popular.

Superbly helpful staff. Visited for lunch so can't comment on hotel facilities, but the pub/bar area was great. Booked a table on line which was readily reserved. The two ladies on duty at lunchtime really went out of their way to help my disabled mum.

So pleased with the helpful staff at this hotel. We were turned away from another local hotel, despite having a confirmed booking. The staff here did everything they could to fit us in, and made us feel very comfortable. We had a very nice meal in the evening, plus two pints of Timothy Taylor Landlord. The breakfast staff were very friendly and efficient as well.

Visited for lunch and was very impressed with everything. Firstly the service was fantastic and both highly attentive and exceptionally friendly. The Menu was had loads of options and was quite reasonable for the quality of the food and was very tasty. Finally the atmosphere was very pleasant and the decor was well furnished and had lots of historical character. Didn’t stay in the hotel but I can certainly recommend the dining side of the Raven. Will definitely return!
