Was apprehensive about using this shop as i thought everything was going to be expensive. My grand-dad used this shop (Pongo's) when it was located in shirley right opposite where he worked just off the high street. I was very suprised there is a whole range of fishing equipment for sale for all bugets. Brought two sea fishing rods for me and my son and cost under £100. Were both new to fishing and found the experience very friendly and knowledgeable staff on hand for any questions or information. The only draw back was the shop was quite cramped but had tons of stuff to pick your way threw.

Hands down one of the best independent tackleshops in the country. Whatever you're fishing for they have the gear - Carp, Coarse, Match, Sea, Specimen and in abundance too. Tonnes of tackle and gear on display which is priceless in this digital age where we often we don't get the chance to see or feel products before touching them. Tonnes of excellent fishing nearby & friendly, helpful and attentive staff. Keep up the sterling work

Wide range for the carp angler. A fair amount of sea gear and a smattering of predator kit. Helpful staff and reasonable prices.

Absolutely amazed by the variety and range few brands and baits not stocked but overall very impressive about the fact that you can view some bivvies set-up so can judge size comfort etc,

On a visit this morning i must say that i was massively disappointed. I used to fish freshwater and Poingdesters was my go to shop as a child and even in to mid 20s. A bit of a break and i am now a leisurely boat fishing person that just dabbles, i dont really know my stuff that well especially with all the new things available. I went to Poingdesters for a quick look around, grab some advise, pickup a few bits to restock my tackle box and buy a new bag. But on visiting, i could clearly see that as a (Supposed) Local provider that has a fair amount of buying power over the little independent shops. that they have massively over inflated prices. I did a quick search of another local, along with the trusty old big website (wont mention it) and found that in some cases i could buy the same gear 50% cheaper locally or online. Now i always support local and i am a man that likes to see, touch, feel things before buying. but i just couldn't justify paying 50% and more for a tackle box or smaller items like hooks etc. Its such a shame, i appreciate spiraling costs and building costs, but i have to sit here and think that the Directors/investors of this business are pushing things a bit far. Customer Service: Not that good on this visit, no help offered, i was the only person in the shop and 2 assistants were at the tills just chatting with each other. Stock level: Very good, very equipped with everything you probably want for a fishing trip or maintaining your tackle box and fishing gear Layout of shop: Crowded and messy Value for money: Expensive I will update this on a second visit in the near future to see if the general customer service has improved. if i had a better presented customer service i think i could have possibly been persuaded to ignore the price differences.

This is a Cracking little shop i remember going to the shop when i last went fishing in 1995 always remembered the name. I was asked to go fishing last week so had a look on google found him and the shop has moved alot bigger than the last one. Well i went in for a few supplys for my little trip. The staff in there were really friendly and helpful and they could see i didn't have a clue and explained everything i needed to no. I was very impressed with the level of service i received i would definitely recommend and will definitely be using again. 5 star
