Food's good here, a little on the pricey side, but I have eaten here a few times and have not been disappointed.

Stayed a night in one of the two chalets. Although very small (two people would really struggle!), it was spotlessly clean and attractively decorated. Enjoyed the fish pie for supper, and breakfast was beautifully presented, just for me as the only overnight guest. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Would recommend for an overnight stay.

Sunday roast was nice very hot. Little garden. Dog friendly in bar area and outside. Some gluten free options

Small portions of very average food…a party of four and none were impressed, quality was minimal. Beer & wine was decent. I had the fish pie at gbp 15.25 which had very little fish in & was a tiny portion which had been microwaved way too long it was still too hot to eat after 15 minutes.

The rooms were lovely, the service great, and food delish. The best location for exploring Jane Austen’s house and easy to get to from Alton Train Station! The room was super cutely decorated and had exposed ceiling beams. Lots of lighting options and even a mini fridge. Comfy bed. The pub is a must! Great service, delicious food, dog friendly, and a warm fire going. Only downsides were the lock on the door - maybe instructions should have been left for this? It was extremely hard to lock and unlock. Something about holding the door handle up at a certain angle for it to work? This should be a very straight forward thing but it wasn’t and was a frustration every single entering or leaving. And it was rather chilly. It was January and there is a radiator under the window but it felt chilly and one night was very cold.

I have been to the French Horn multiple times and received takeout multiple times. The food is always exceptional and beautifully homemade. The staff and owners Piotr and Monika go above and beyond. For a warm welcome have a meal at the French Horn. Plus dog friendly :)

Met with family to exchange gifts and have belated Christmas meal. The pub is very basic to look at but also has a rustic unpretentious charm. The lovely young girl serving us , Anna could not have been more welcoming and is a credit to the pub. The table we sat at was pleasantly decorated, a lot of effort had clearly gone into this. The food was simply out of this world delicious. In particular the steak, burger, triple cooked chips were incredible. The puddings were fab too. My teenager loved his polish apple pie, my fruit crumble was the best I have tasted and the fantastic selection of home made ice cream was something else! Such lovely food , service and atmosphere , thank you for making our family gathering so special xxx

Always a friendly welcome and fantastic service. Great drink options and the food is always fantastic! Lots of choice on the menu, something for everyone! We were sad when we moved away to not be able to visit as much but when we're back it's our first choice.

Yesterday 26th October my motorcycle club had a turn up here and 18 of us turned up. The staff were absolutely fantastic, they did say as we turned up that the food service would be slow as we were all ordering/paying, individually. This was not a problem for us. As we meet up to chat motorcycles and club stuff. This pub has a very good local lunch business. They looked after us beautifully, and serviced their local customer trade. All the food is fresh, and very well presented, and once again the staff were amazing. Thank you to the staff at The French Horn for looking after us so well. Chef Nev
