I have never written a review before, but following a recent experience I feel it is necessary. My child has been attending this swimming centre for almost three years. The coaches are excellent, which is the main reason I have recommended this branch to over 10 families, many of whose children now attend lessons here. Unfortunately, while the coaching staff are very good, the management and general upkeep of the centre are extremely disappointing. Recently, I was spoken to in a very abrupt and unprofessional manner by the manager in front of my child regarding a rule that I had never previously been made aware of. I fully respect safety policies, however this situation has occurred before with staff approval and without any concern raised. The way it was addressed on this occasion including a raised voice zi was unnecessary and upsetting. I remained calm as I was with my children and wanted to set a good example, but I was taken aback by the lack of courtesy and understanding. In addition, the prices at this centre are noticeably higher than in the Hudson region, yet the standard of the facilities does not reflect this. The centre frequently smells of urine, the ladies’ toilet flush has not worked since we began attending, and toilets are often full. The disabled toilet has been out of order for over two months. Changing rooms are dusty, doors are dirty, and cleaning appears inconsistent. The mats where children remove their shoes are very dirty, and around the pool the drainage holes, which should be white, are black. When we first joined, there was a bench poolside for parents supporting beginners or children with water anxiety; this has since been removed. There were also chairs upstairs for parents to watch lessons, which are no longer available. The windows are extremely dirty, and the frames are rusty with visible mould. Sitting upstairs in the heat and mould, particularly with siblings waiting, does not feel healthy. This is a real shame, as the coaching team are excellent, but poor management!

i’ve been going to this gym for around a year however the gym is okay, there is not many machines for certain things and i overall think there’s just not enough equipment at all, i also think the staff are quite rude in the gym and unhelpful, everytime I've also been to the toilets in the gym they’re always broken or dirty and overall not nice. this gym is okay although i don’t really recommend.

I was a loyal member for years, before the renovation. Kept my membership throughout the reno, only for them to then overcharge me on the subscription fee for months after they re-opened. I finally realised and reached out to customer service. They barely even apologised and moved me back down onto the fee everybody else was on, but they refused to refund me for the months they overcharged me for. After the renovation the gym was smaller and had much less of a range of equipment compared to what they had previously. They then started putting the fees up and up for seemingly no reason. It's now nearly £40 a month for the basic membership, which is ridiculous! Could pay just a few quid more and go to JD which has everything Dunstable has but with way more equipment, sauna/steamroom, jacuzzi etc; way more for your money. Or, go to the other gym next door (behind the college) like I have and pay almost half. Dunstable Centre also try to charge over £11 just for a gym day session. Staff at reception are almost always either not there, or slow and miserable. What a joke!

First time we have been since the refurbishment. Prices are ok but was a little confused by website as you couldn’t book unless you were registered. Don’t fret though you can just turn up and pay, just arrive a little earlier before session to allow for queue. Changing rooms nice and clean, family and single cubicles. Pool decent temperature, we stayed in the whole hour and didn’t feel cold. Lovely hot showers, and my girls loved the free hair dryers to! Lockers are £1. Revisit 2023 summer break, once again great experience. I love the pool temp here, 29 degrees, so nice. Got it booked much better this time, now using the ‘everyone active’ app, you can open the gates by reception with the app, quite cool!

After requesting a gym membership I was blown away at the thought of a joining fee If taking £40 a month was not enough they required me to pay a upfront fee of £30 just to join Am I the only person that sees this as a con ? The service I got was not up to standard as I was asked to speak with someone called Luke in ten minutes as he started his shift at 11 when I arrived there I was greeted with he is going to be another 20 minutes Sorry my parking ticket is about to expire and I am not want to pay even more So my end result has not had a great turn out I am still looking for a gym

Much better now because they have fixed the little pool and the water it is warmer. The children are enjoying it more now. All the areas are clean.

Hopeless customer experience. Could not book online for family session in the small pool. Could not get an answer on the phone to book. Turned up to be told the session was fully booked and I should have booked online. How exactly?! Waste of time.

We visited the pool for our daughters first swimming trip this week. Prior to our visit I spoke to two lovely young ladies on the phone (I think they were called Lauren & Serena). Although our experience in swimming was nice, I did notice the changing rooms weren’t particularly clean. Which was confirmed after we returned from the pool, while getting changed my toddler found a used tampon on the floor which had been discarded under the changing table in our cubicle. Granted this isn’t the centres fault entirely, and after I told someone about it a member of staff came to clear it away promptly. But he did inform me that this wasn’t the first time they had found one today. And a quick check of the floor every now and then wouldn’t hurt, as the rest of the changing rooms or the area around the building didn’t look particularly clean either. Lastly, the following day we received an email saying we would be receiving a penalty for not attending our booking. I’m not sure if this was a fault with the system or not but I did call and explain but have not heard back as to wether the penalty has been removed or not. I did also mention what my daughter found on the floor while I was trying to resolve the penalty and I was not met with as much as an apology. All in all we had a lovely time swimming, but do think the place is lacking a bit of care and cleanliness.
