βThe staff were very helpful and friendly. It took a while to find, but hopefully with this new listing, it will be easier for people. On arrival your temperature is taken. Parking was not too bad. The Outpatients Department is located down a path on the left hand side, a short way after entering County hospital's grounds.β
βDr Alkihili has been so empathetic, kind and compassionate with my three sons who have autism. A truly professional and wonderful doctor who has worked so hard on our case.β
βI tried this dentist after my own in Cwmbran could not fit me in. I saw a Spanish lady and her assistant at the time (Nov 2013). I had been experiencing a lot of pain over the weekend so was very pleased that they could fit me in on the following Monday. My appointment was scheduled for 11 but I did not go in to see the dentist until 11:30 but I was not too worried about this as they had made an effort to squeeze me in. Within a few minutes of seeing the dentist, she suggested I had an abscess and then did four x-rays on my teeth which confirmed this. I was given a course of anti-biotic which she prescribed, and told me to return the following week. I was very surprised again that I was attended to within a week, which in my current practice would not have happened. I was very grateful to both the dentist and her assistant who made me feel very relaxed and at ease, considering the pain I was in. The following week my abscess had gone so I did not require any additional treatment. I found all the staff to be very professional. Following the treatment I have registered to ask when positions become available I wished to transfer from my Cwmbran practice to The Gaer practice even though I lived close to Cwmbran as I gained a lot of confidence from the Spanish dentist and her assistant.β
βI have been with Richard and Vale Vets for the last 10 years and I have had nothing but a great service throughout those years. More recently this past December my dog Lexi who is now 13 years old went in for a general check of health, but Richard discovered a mass growing in her stomach. It was not looking good for Lexi as she was an older dog. We didn't know how she was going to react to surgery, we didn't know whether or not she would survive the anesthetic and we did know how much of the mass had integrated into the rest of her body. We made the decision to go ahead with the surgery to give Lexi the best chance of surviving. Richard and his team went above and beyond to care for Lexi and I could never have asked for a greater group of people to care for her. Somehow Richard managed to remove a two kilogram mass from Lexi, Lexi only being 18 kilogram to start with. The surgery was successful and Lexi had come out of the anesthetic. We went in to the surgery to meet with Richard and to see Lexi for the first time, we were given all of the options where it was a 50/50 chance whether or not Lexi would survive the night and we made the decision that we would care for her at home regardless of the outcome, which we had the full support of Richard and his team and again I echo that they were amazing and went above and beyond their job and they there responsibilities. Richard didn't have to do this but he kept in touch with me. He was about to go on holiday with his family, but he kept in touch with me all the way through the night to make sure that Lexi was still going strong. Lexi made it through the night. Lexi was back at the surgery the next day to have a check up, watching her walk back into the building was one of the proudest things I've seen that old dog do. She was greeted with affection from everybody and by this time everybody had heard the story of Lexi and everyone was truly amazed that she had pulled through what was a horrific surgery. We are now three months on and Lexi is doing better than ever. She is running around with our kids, still thinking she is still a puppy. Lexi would not be here if it wasn't for Richard and the team at Barry Vale Vets. We could never thank you all enough.β
βI want to thank everyone at the AandE dept. for the highly skilled specialists and support staff who helped me earlier this week when I had a serious medical issue. I have nothing but praise for the entire team who worked so hard to give me the best outcome possible, before I was transferred to a specialist unit at another hospital. I will be forever in your debt for what you have done, I have no doubts whatsoever that the actions and hard work done on my behalf have given me the best possible outcome.β
βI've only been to Pentwyn once for my mental health - I saw a mental health nurse and a social worker for an initial assessment. Yhey were both brilliant - I felt safe, heard and I also felt they treated me like a whole person rather than a patient / disease.β
βI spent 7 hours at A&E. The wait was mind-numbing, the waiting room overcrowded, there were too many family/friend groups gathered around patients having a nice chat and clogging up the space. But every single member of staff I met was incredibly kind, patient and hard-working. They even managed to retain a sense of humour. The system they are are working under is inefficient, the strain on their resources is immense, and some of the patients and their families are obnoxious, but they still managed to work their shift efficiently and with empathy. I have nothing but respect for these people.β
