Delicious spices in Coventry

“Baabzi made us very welcome here at his fabulous new restaurant! Telling us his personal traumatic story was emotional and showed his true values and strength of commitment. That aside as a back story, born perhaps from his very first restaurant with his Dad in Cumbria at aged 17, Eleven Spices is simply all about the food. Based around a mix of 11 spices, the dishes are electrifyingly original and irresistibly tasty. Let's be honest, each dish is a couple of quid extra to your normal curry house, but seriously you need to try it to justify it. This is not just curry made with tubs of base sauce in different varieties, the chef can actually cook!!!! We started with giant chilli prawns in a Dynamite sauce - the ultimate Indian tweak on a prawn cocktail.. fabulous! And a chilli paneer in such a light crispy batter it was so tasty. Personally, my only criticism would be the modern fresh decor could perhaps turn the lights down a little, but the food was simply overwhelming. I normally gauge my reviews on the quality of murgh tikka and also the tarka daal. So, I ordered the Murgh Naga Tawa, an amazing dry slow-cooked, peppers, naga chilli, chicken feast; it was hot but not just heat it was very very flavoursome. The daal was actually a Dhaka Makhan Daal with butter tomato sauce but still chilli and plenty of roast garlic - for me this was the best I have ever tasted; a little salty but with a dipped Kulcha was the best combo I have eaten in 40 years!!! The peshawar naan was a soft dough with crispy outside and drizzled in honey so so amazing!! This was my anniversary meal with my wife - the food was simply stunning, the restaurant was great, Baabzi is a brave magnificent human and I truly wish him all the best. This is not just a Friday night curry, this is the very best Bangladeshi feast you can imagine.. go discover and enjoy!!”

“What a wonderful little surprise this venue is. The host was very welcoming, not surprising, for such an unusual location, it is in the rooms above the pub. Make your way around the side to the back and enter into a bustling experience. Tables were efficiently moved to accommodate the two of us, and the knowledgeable waiters buzzed about taking their time to prepare orders and explain the menu. Apparently, it is the locals' best kept secret, and there was chatting and laughter, making it a relaxed evening. Because the pub is only downstairs, I would suggest having a quick drink, but you are able to get served at the table from the bar. The food introduced itself long before we sat down through the inviting fragrances, and patrons made their suggestions as we perused the full list of dishes. I'm afraid to say I played it safe and had my usual prawn puree and merga masala. After our freshly cooked poppadoms, the food was served quickly and presented amazingly. From what i saw the other patrons being served, I will definitely explore the range of dishes more next time. The portions were such that if you do decide to go here, I would suggest you skip lunch. Even though it's a small venue, you weren't rushed, so much so that the proprietor introduced himself and was genuinely interested in your experience. One tip make sure you book a table early. The cost was inline local curry restaurants. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I would highly recommend it.”

“We were staying nearby and had been advised that Rice and Spice was worth a visit. We tried it and were not disappointed. We had a set meal for two. We didn't have to wait long, and the food was very hot and delicious. The set menu offered a good balance of dishes and there was plenty of food for two. I will go again when I am next in the area.”

“This is the first time I order from here. No words to describe the excellent service! The food was five stars! Fresh, tasty and saucy! Just as it has to be. We ordered piri chicken wings, wrap and rice with chicken. They are absolutely great! The first time we order from a new place (for us) that leaves a very pleasant taste after the food is gone! “My mum sister and I took our first visit to this store. My mum and I love to cook and my sister loves trying new foods was excellent. Very friendly service, lovely and clean and well organised. The store was excellent, the stock of spices, herbs, ingredients and snacks. I got a basket of spices and vegan snacks and it came to £11. My mum was very impressed as she often has to buy ingredients online for cooking Indian dishes and now has somewhere local to get them. We will definitely be back again.”

The portion size was a bit small and a side of broccoli was expensive for the small amount in the side... I think it was £5.50. Drinks sensibly priced. Thai food always has vegan options and the staff were helpful but the menu could have had better descriptions and more mention of plant based options. The service was great and ambulance just right. Overall I spent £26; which was ok although I definitely couldn't have eaten more.”

“After visiting the one in Birmingham, we were hoping that the service was on par. The Sabai in Leamington delivered, we finished watching a comedy show at the royal spa centre and wanted to grab a bit right after. The location of the restaurant is convenient, there is ample parking nearby which is approximately a 5-10 minute walk especially later in the evening. Toilets taken care of were immaculate. Upon entering we had a warm welcome and were seated immediately as the restaurant wasn't particularly busy. We ordered a Thai green and a musaman curry with some egg fried rice. Both the main dishes had a great flavour and I would definitely recommend going again.”

“A succulent Thai meal -- authentic flavoursome food and great value. I had the Jungle Curry and you can have a choice of meats I had (chicken) with Egg Fried rice it had a good kick. The ingredients especially the chicken and vegetables tasted fresh and the portion size was generous. The host advised the meal was made from scratch. “We were a party of 4 with no booking but this wasn't an issue. We were welcomed at the door and all staff were polite and attentive. A great choice of food on the menu and so I chose the Kathmandu option with garlic fried rice which was delicious. The naan bread was amongst the best I've ever had. We shared 2 bottles of the house red, a merlot, and we all agreed how good it was. If you're in the area, I highly recommend you have a meal here.”

As someone originally from Adana I can definitely say that Adana kebap was one of the best I’ve ever had outside of Adana :) Plus very welcoming, friendly and warm staff.
