“The National Picture Theatre is the last bomb damaged building in England. This grade ll listed monument was opened in december 1914. The bomb that destroyed most of the building landed on 18th march 1941, 9.50pm ten minutes before it was due to close. All 150 people in the cinema escaped unhurt. It is presently undergoing restoration.”
