Food establishment in Wakefield

“It may be an Italian in a small village but the food , service and atmosphere is one that belongs in a Michelin Star restaurant. Ameer works front of house and when needs is also a dab hand in the kitchen . His staff whilst local and young are all friendly and it’s great to see a local restaurant employing local staff . The Italian Chef Pepe is amazing and between my fiancé and I we have had the whole menu from salads to steaks , pasta to sorbet and the food is always delicious and exceptional and exceptional value for money . I cannot wait to fetch 40 something of my friends for my Hen Do and introduce them all to the best hidden Italian gem in the county . You were the best find 4 years ago and will continue to be our place to go for special occasions or just like tonight Bob in for tea after a busy weekend.”

“Well for a start, you carn’t go wrong calling this pub the little bull. Every window has a blue bull printed on it. At the front of pub is a big blue bull printed on it. The entrance door is blue. The window blinds are blue. Inside the decoris blue. They took out the two log open fires. They took away all the bar stools. Theirs a bandit gambling slot money machine standing at the bar now. Bandit gambling mchines in the pool table room. I got half glass of sparkling cider. I gave a ten pound note to the bar tender. He was busy and looking and talking to his next customer. I had my change nearly thrown at my hand and missed. I was not impressed. I visited the pub a few months ago. I got a pint of John smiths bitter. I took the glass of John smiths outside and sat on the new bench. I was waiting for my bus. The bustop right outside the little bull. My bus came before I had time to drink my John smiths. I got on the bus with my pint of John smiths in my coat pocket. The bus driver did not see me. The manager of the little bull was watching everything. He saw me getting on the bus with a pint glass of John smiths. I was unaware of this. I didn’t mean to do it. I wasn’t thinking straight. Next time I went in the little bull. The manager was ready for me. He said I should be barred. He served me a drink. I have since on my eBay. Bought the manager of the little bull. Pint glass of John smiths. Costing me £8.50.I have it right now and I’m taking the glass down to the little bull today at 2pm. They do not serve cooked food. Or even a cold sandwich. Just crisps and nuts. Round the back of the blue little bull. They have took away all the garden furniture and umbrella shades. All the swings and slide have gone. Their is a couple of benches with no umbrella shades. “I've walked by Bailey's lots of times as my mechanic is nearby. Popped in for a breakfast sandwich today and was pleasantly surprised. Much bigger than it looks from the outside and a very generous delicious sandwich was handed to me at decent price. Definitely be back to try some more from the massive menu”

“Competitive prices and a good atmosphere. There is a large beer garden there too which is perfect on those sunny days. The owners have done a great job at turning this place around and keeping trouble away.”

“Not the cheapest Chinese but then it was quality that i wanted. I had beef with green peppers & blackbean sauce, the beef was really tender & was overall delicious. I thought it rather strange that they are not on any of the online food ordering sites & they do not do delivery but i now understand that they do not need to rely on foodie sites when the food is so good & if it is so good - it's worth going out to collect.!!!”

“Really nice fish and chips. Never used this place until we were getting our exercise in lockdown and came across it while walking. Use it now everything we pass when out walking. Outside tables also available to sit at. Best fish and chips I have had for ages and each visit is just as good”

“Friendly staff and local residents. Child friendly. Staff were pleasent and atmosphere was lovely. Cheap beers too which is always a bonus!! Pool table and snooker tables available. Room available for rent for parties etc. Car park available on opposite side.of Road and wheelchair accessible ramp.”

“The commite sorted the table arranging and going to every table to get there customers there drinks you couldn't wish for how good and friendly the people were. They didn't try to abuse it .they had the police and another from the council and guess what they passed so it proved it can be done . Thankyou for a great night. “What an absolute gem of a find! I had a full English breakfast and it was fresh and it was tasty! I met 2 friends here, and that was perfect, there is one large dinner table, dressed like it was the one at your parents house in the 90's. There is also some window seating and some benches outside when the weather is slightly more agreeable. Clearly a popular destination as there were plenty of 'yokshur' folk coming in for bacon butties and B.E.S.T. A running theme being people in High Viz and rigger boots ready for the days graft. Parking wise there are a couple of spaces out front, as well as on street parking. Proper salt of the earth place, would recommend!”

“Dropped in on a Sunday afternoon after Grok (my AI) suggested the Angel as the best spot for a Sunday lunch between Pontefract and Barnsley, boy did grok nail that recommendation!! Fitted us in no problem, food was just amazing (especially the black pudding wrapped scotch eggs!!) portions were huge, like the Yorkshire puddings!!, vegetables all cooked to perfection. Definitely couldn’t fault a single thing, well done to you all, and a shout out to the fabulous staff. Thanks for a great Sunday lunch, you didn’t disappoint and Grok rules for recommendations!!”

“This is one of my favourite pubs in Wakefield. It has a superb location and a large selection of seating from outside on the lawn and the pub garden to inside the pub or it's conservatory. The pub itself is very old and worth visiting purely for this reason. It's full of character and is worth seeing. As for the food - the pies here are next level. The staff are always friendly. So yes definitely one to visit.”

“Whenever I go up to Leeds, I try to visit this Fish and Chips shop since the fish and the batter is really good. It is up there with Murt and the other one in Wakefield. Beef dripping frying in these northern chippies really makes a difference compare to the ones down south.”

I had the Lasagne Bites with a Parmesan sauce and Truffle Oil and Parmesan fries which were so good I took some home to show my husband who also wants to come and visit the deli.”
