“Absolutely wonderful place full of amazing training (some even free) and great teachers especially Jenny Macdonald in jewellery and Anna Chrysopoulo in glass. All newly refurbished and in first year of reopening - staff very friendly, just ironing out a few kinks with the building logistics. Plus fantastic cafe run by fabulous ladies - delicious, friendly and very good value!”

“This is my closest hospital but my usual treatments are at Barnet Hospital and Royal Free so I had never been here. It doesn't have a great reputation locally but i needed to go to a&e as my only option. Luckily I had some flexibility- it was Halloween and I had no interest in waiting in a room with a bunch of drunk party goers. I arrived at 7.30 am checked in straight away, then waited maybe an hour in the waiting area which had maybe 5 others. I think you have to have a realistic expectation when going at the weekend in winter, it will be at least 4 hours and they will see people in urgency order. (Bring a mask!) I then had a mini assessment and the nurse referred me to a specific ward which accepted the assignment and half an hour later I was taken to that outpatient ward. When the porter pushed me there, we saw "behind the curtain" - the actual emergencies, getting treatment and I wish people could get a glimpse of that to put their impatience into place. The nurses on the ward were ever so apologetic as the Dr was held up in an emergency and in the operating theatre, meanwhile I was on a comfortable chair alone in a room, I told them to absolutely not worry about me. They kept checking in with me and about 2.5 hours later I was treated by a lovely doctor and finally pushed out by the nurses themselves as the porter took too long in their opinion. From the security guard, the check in person, the nurses, porter and doctor everyone was respectful and professional. The place was very clean but you can tell that they have an enormous footfall. From 8.30 am the waiting room started to get more people. NorthMid has statistically very high traffic, younger people and more mental health cases than the other hospitals in the trust. If you want to make a difference join the Royal Free membership- everyone can and engage with the patient governors or join the patient panel.”
