“A tiny little takeaway, I first ventured a couple of years back for a Lamb Biryani. To the uninitiated, this dish is like a combo, like a meal in one, much like a pizza or a chow mien. The dish is cooked with chicken (or in my case, lamb) and rice in-situ with herbs and spices. A complimentary pack of salad and minted Raita (yoghurt sauce) comes with it. I am used to some of the best biryanis around the world i.e. Kuwait, Delhi and Kolkata, and I will definitely say that Mr Ali Rehman,(the proprietor) can hold his own against the best I have ever tasted. Besides he has certificates all over the wall showing 5 star awards in cleanliness and hygiene from the local council plus independent food safety authorities. You just need to take a visit to see how meticulously he keeps the food covered in the refrigerated display cabinet! All I can say is that the world will be a poorer place for me without his Lamb Biryani. As for other dishes, if that is what he can do with my dish, I feel confident that he will shine equally well for all other items. Thanks Mr Rehman. Wish you all the best for total success! “Never been to this Travelodge before but I’ve stayed in many and this one is a good position, close to the end of the M1. It’s a little convoluted to get here, certainly if you’re coming down from the M1 but Google is your friend so just follow her directions and she will guide you in. There is parking…..yes you heard right, there is parking at the rear of the Hotel and I had no problem, even with the big Audi. The parking registration computer was broken so Erica the receptionist explained and gave me a form. Special mention about Erica, she was lovely and explained about breakfast, which I had booked. There was a large party in so advised I get down PDQ after 0800 to get a fuss free sitting. She sorted me a room which was on the opposing side of the hotel to the train line which runs at the back of the car park and I guess could be noisy in the night. I got into 208 on the second floor and it was the same as normal, boring but familiar, which as a business customer, is exactly as you would wish. The room was clean, tidy and well set out. I love that there are USB sockets x4 although maybe 2 could be USBc if I was being picky. Overall the room was great. I didn’t give it 10 out of 10 because there were a couple of things which let it down somewhat. The first was possibly the only thing I would actually complain about and that was the toilet flush which the chrome was breaking off which left jagged and will certainly cut your finger if you were unaware or maybe a child. The rest are just observations which wouldn’t affect your stay but maybe not what you would expect from a company of this stature. The chairs were both damaged, the desk chair because it was not ment to fit under the desk and rubs each time. The shower extractor is very rusty, as is the bottle opener, there is condensation damage to the bathroom mirror and mould on the shower wall holder. Would this stop me coming again? No, not at all as it fits my needs exactly.. I will mention the toilet flush though”

“Obviously the bhajias that Maru’s are famous for are delicious, freshly made and still crisp and warm when they arrive, but the rest of the menu deserves highlighting too. The samosas are outstanding, and the Bhel puri and Special puri are crisp, fresh and full of flavour. I would also highly recommend the passion fruit juice. Very friendly staff and a great friendly atmosphere. An outstanding meal.”

“This wasn't the most stylish, trendy hotel - but it was comfortable, very clean, and had a fridge in the room which was awesome. Room was cleaned fully each day, good water pressure, it had everything I needed. Very close to harrow and wealding station as well as harrow on the hill as well.”

“I was a little worried due to the bad reviews but I had a good experience, the person who did my piercing (I didn’t catch her name unfortunately) was lovely and very helpful. The piercing was so quick but barely felt. Let’s see how it heals now”
