Stopped here on a drive from London up to Manchester. They had gluten free fish and chips which was fantastic, and a good selection of gluten free desserts. Harry was super friendly, it was a perfect break during a long drive
Nice place, female member of staff was lovely. We had the signature burger which was sooo good, and we finished with a sticky toffee pudding and a baked vanilla cheesecake. Would highly recommend to anyone.
My great aunt owned this in the late 50s. What a beautiful restaurant and pub! Delicious food...friendly service and felt very upmarket. Loved it!
There were 9 of us visiting the White Horse for my parents diamond wedding anniversary on a Sunday lunch time. On arrival was met by a very helpful member of the floor team who showed us to our table. The pub has a lovely warm atmosphere, very well set up. Our food was ordered and drinks had. Let me first say, throughout our visit the service was exemplary. A real nice group of people who took pleasure in making sure our stay was the best it could be. The 9 meals were all brought out together and then the feast began. Wow. This is food of the highest order. Presented real well as you can see from the pictures. We had a wide range of dishes and everyone enjoyed their meal immensely. It's a bit more pricey than a standard pub but this place is far above standard and was great value indeed. As you can tell we were all very much impressed by the White Horse and would highly recommend the place.
First time visiting here. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The food was amazing. Atmosphere was lovely. But most of all our waiter Harry was so lovely and attentive and welcoming. Made us feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely old inn, absolutely loved the food, the coffee was great too. Dog friendly, they'll even bring a bowl of water for your dog too. Prices weren't bad at all, clean cutlery, seats and table, it makes all the difference.. Yes I'd recommend this establishment.
Visited The White Horse today for a Sunday roast. Food, service and atmosphere was perfect. Nice and busy and food arrived in a great time! Staff were friendly and welcoming and I loved the open fire in the bar! Thanks for a lovely afternoon. Will definitely be back soon
Turned up on time for our table at 19:15 after travelling for 50 mins to meet some friends. On arrival we were ignored for 10 minutes before anyone got to us. We were then told to wait 2 seconds whilst something was being sorted out, when they came back they explained that there were people still at our table. Eventually shown to another table at 19:45 where we were left without a drinks order being taken. By the time I got back from the bar, a waitress was taking the order. Starters arrived at 20:15 which we then found out were for another table, so we then had to wait another 10 minutes before our starters turned up. Main courses weren't as hot as they could be. Our steaks were chewy and turned up accompanied by a grilled tomato that looked like it had been kept from a meal the week previous (reduce, reuse, recycle and all that). Overall, a very disappointing experience. Over priced, poorly presented tiny portions and on a busy Saturday night which was also Valentines weekend, I would have expected to see more staff on, as i think we only saw 4 out on the floor. Things to work on for the future, staff need to have better engagement with the customers, if you're busy, fine. A quick apology to the ones waiting at the door, maybe shown to the bar quicker. Just better engagement with the customers in general.
Apologies for my original posting, I thought I had posted 5 stars! Our visit was very pleasant,Harry our waiter was fantastic all round. Food was excellent! We"ll definitely be back.
