First time we have eaten here. We were very pleasantly surprised. Properly cooked, really tasty food. Lots of extra care taken in preparation of vegetables, which were much nicer than many other pubs we’ve used recently

The lady who takes care of the rooms and showed us to it was so lovely and so was the room. Fresh, clean and comfortable. The location was great and there was plenty of free parking at the back of the pub. A bit expensive for the night (£110), but it was during a bank holiday Friday so maybe that was to be expected?

Stayed using the camper spots. Good value for the parking. Do bear in mind you can only use toilet facilities and only when the pub is open. Which is fine, but if you need more then may want to look elsewhere. Plenty of space for a medium camper. (I have a converted small van so was easy) It's so handy being so close to the town though. Unlike most local campsites. Beer was fine. Service was lovely.

We stopped off for food, has ample parking at the back, a beer garden and some semi outdoor seating at the back. Could do with a bit of a deep clean and love but seemed a lovely pub. Food was of good quality and didn't seem like the usual microwave fair, dog loved his full dinner. Dog friendly pub.

Arrived at 1530 to be told kitchen is shut until 1700. Caught me off guard where I'm from kitchens are open when pubs are. Enjoyed my steak and unicorn pie. Excellent chips. Wife's burger was typical pub fare. Reasonably priced for a tourist spot. Touted as super dog friendly and there where lots of dogs but not offered a bowel of water or a treat even though it was super quiet. Poor. Edit Sorry that you're short staffed but that's not my fault. Most places are tbh. Yes we found the water. Customers were very friendly and we had a great chat. Thanks we found much more dog friendly pubs.

Decent food, above pub grub standard and not too expensive. Beers and wine good too. Like an old fashioned English local. Staff were the best, warm, helpful and engaging, great staff make such a difference (unlike our experience at the red lion the day before). If in Bakewell again this would be our first port of call. Thanks for looking after us.

We visited Bakewell for 5 nights. We tried all the pubs (there are a lot!) and this was our favourite both for beer and food. Good choice of beer which is very well kept. Excellent food at reasonable prices. The service was friendly and efficient despite how busy it was. Definitely worth booking even mid week.

I do really love this pub, but the outside seating does have stains on all the covers, it was the only seat left on a busy Sunday so we did stay to have lunch and found everything else nice. Food - lovely. Presentation ✔️ beef was a little too bloody for me but I ate a little, the rest of the dinner was lovely. Staff very friendly especially the young man. Will definitely come back!!!
