I did not have the best experience here in total honesty. The positives were the location was great, it was a 5 minute walk from all the major attractions and landmarks which was a big plus. The staff were friendly for most of the time. The breakfast wasn't too bad either. It was cheap and of decent quality. The only negative I had was the following. 1) There was an autistic long-haired individual who worked mainly nights at reception who was probably the rudest receptionist I had ever come across. He offered no help regarding a bedroom situation, and brushed the whole thing off as if it were nothing. The bed in question was placed right beside a fluorescent fire-exit sign that was on all night. It was near impossible to sleep beside due to the strong glowing light. The above worker did not bat an eyelid and brushed it off as just the way the room was built. Anyway, it's an ideal hostel for those who want a cheap stay, a good location in the heart of Edinburgh and to meet some like-minded people. I probably wouldn't stay again.

What a wonderful place! Everyone was so welcoming, accomodating and polite. The beds were soft, rooms are clean! It's close to the castle, central and next to plenty great bakeries on sleepy mornings. 10/10 recommend. Thank you all and Merry Christmas! β€οΈ

Fabulous location central old Edinburgh, by Castle Very safe and friendly Fantastic value for money Great food evening, basic but good, cold self serve breakfast. Lockers, USB charging sockets and reading light for each bed. Lockers on reception for after check-out. Lots showers and toilets. Female only, male only and mixed. All with cubicles with locks. Warm room and could open window. Very groovy bar/cafe/ restaurant area. Great music playing and fun friendly atmosphere. Very safe, reception manned 24/7 Can hire towels cheaply Only downside was that the mattress was a bit basic and uncomfortable on bunk bed, but bedding was nice and kept clean.

If the thing you care about most is location, then this is absolutely the hostel for you. Located at the bottom of Victoria Street, this hostel is a 2-10 minute walk from Victoria Street, the Royal Mile, the Edinburgh Castle, the University of Edinburgh, Grassmarket, Princes Street, and countless restaurants, shops, pubs, and bars. It is a little bit difficult to get to from the tram and bus stop, google maps takes you up and down multiple staircases and if you want to avoid them it does add about ten minutes to the walk. I stayed in a 4 bed female room, and the room was cute and well laid out, but not super clean. The floors had not been swept under the beds (I found a pair of slippers under my bed that had been there for who knows how long), I don't think the shelves had been cleaned because there was a pill left on my shelf, the sheets did have some hairs left on them, and the towel I was given had a stain. This is a hostel so my expectations on cleanliness are not super high, but I have stayed at far cleaner hostels. There was a female bathroom on my floor, but it was quite a walk from the female only room (the male only bathroom was closer funny enough). The female bathroom is quite small; only two showers and two toilet stalls. The showers are teeny tiny, and there is no outer space to leave your clothes or change, only a small hook. I typically try to avoid mixed gender bathrooms, but I actually ended up using those instead of the female bathrooms because they were considerably bigger and cleaner. The female bathrooms I believe are only cleaned once a day early in the morning, so by evening they are not great. The service was excellent, the front desk staff are there 24/7 and they are extremely kind and helpful. The bar is great, and there's activities every night of the week. It's a great hostel for meeting people and making friends! Overall, I would stay here again because the location for the price is pretty unbeatable, and the social aspect was phenomenal, but I think it could definitely use some more cleaning.

Beautiful hostel. Clean, good beds, good bathrooms, good showers, very well located. I recommend the cheap and complete buffet breakfast. Really good. Otherwise they doesnβt have kitchen, just a microwave. So, the place is not expensive, but you have to expend going out to eat. Is the only thing didnβt like me. If you donβt mind about kitchen, this is definitely the hostel to stay in Edimburgh.

Definitely value for money. They can improve the showers. Ps since it is a hostel it is fair to expect that things might not be as quite and clean as a private room. Lastly get yourself a lock for the lockers they have.

Very social, the bar is a lot of fun. You are bound to meet amazing travelers here. Incredibly happy I stayed here, this place made my trip the best!

Best budget stay while comparing it to other places of staying in Edinburgh. Nice staff. Location is pretty nice considering advantage of going anywhere around Edinburgh. National museum of Scotland and Edinburgh castle just a few minutes walk away. Had a great time at bar as it is really a fun in evening.

The service was extremely good. We were allotted a drone which had a weird smell when we entered. After reporting at the reception they were extremely helpful and made sure the smell was gone and the stay was peaceful. Also, to mention I forgot my watch at the hostel and realized it when I was back home. I thought I would never get it back still took a chance and called the hostel and to my surprise, Evan found my watch and also returned it to my home address via post and kept me updated via Emails. I was impressed by the service provided by Evan and the entire team.

Great location and a beautiful view of Edinburgh castle just outside the front door. Continental breakfast was good, but nothing exceptional (croissant, yogurt, fruit, coffee/tea/juice). Wifi signal was nice and strong, but the bathrooms could use some more attention. My major issue was as follows: I paid extra to be in a female-only room, so I found it very jarring when two men entered the room at around 7:50 am to complete a repair. There was no announcement, no warning, I just rolled over in bed and suddenly saw two men, it made me very uncomfortable. The repair needed to be done, but they should have waited until later that morning. Luckily none of us were getting dressed when they walked in, but we definitely could've been, and that experience made me feel uncomfortable and questioned my safety.
