Absolutely amazing afternoon tea. Took my mother in law and husband for a Christmas treat. The sandwiches were delicious and the little warm sausages and ribs as an extra were extremely tasty. The little trifles and scones were perfect. We are well travelled and like to be spoilt and I must say its the best we have had. Excellent service and warmly greeted. Put us all in the Christmas spirit. Thank you for making it special Lynne Hibbert x

We have been living in Matlock for just over a year now and have been going to oak hill for Sunday Lunch most Sundays and it’s delicious ! I’d also like to mention how amazing the gardens are and the hard work that must go into the upkeep of such well established beds , I think the 2 ladies that look after them Joanne & Jane do a phenomenal job and have met them both on several occasions when we have been sitting in the gardens mid week having coffee ! Great to have such a lovely well loved hotel to visit with beautiful grounds and staff !

This must be the best Hotel that I have ever stayed in, and I am a seasoned business and pleasure traveller. The Hotel was once a country house and much of the gardens and land remain, you are free to wander. The rooms are well decorated and catch the charm of a bygone age, and very tastefully done. Hygiene and cleanliness, is to a standard way beyond acceptable, if this is possible. The staff are very welcoming, and cannot do enough for you, even when the incorrect food order arrives at the table. The food is very good, not exceptional, very good bordering on acceptable to be honest. Parking is plentiful and unlike many hotels it remains free.

We came here for our 20th Wedding Anniversary meal. Top class, everything. The food was just perfect (what a lovely menu to chose from) and the service was attentive but not overpowering, just lovely and friendly. Sharron and her team do an amazing job and it's so lovely to have such a wonderful venue so close to us. Ps we arrived at dusk but the gardens are stunning! Thank you for such a memorable evening.

Recently visited for a meal with friends. We didn't stay over on this occasion, but have already planned our next 3 night stay. The food was delicious as always, one friend opted for the pie of the day, declaring it to be " the best pie she had ever eaten" - this echoed the sentiments of my husband on our previous visit. We were able to sit outside in the lovely gardens with our after dinner drinks - a delight not to be missed. The staff were friendly, courteous and professional, dealing with our specific requirements without any fuss and without drawing any attention to our needs. Thank you Oakhill.

Oakhill is an absolutely beautiful hotel. So much so that after our initial stay in August '22 we booked for New Year, again, we were treated brilliantly by all the staff. We have just booked another short stay for the summer and we are also looking to book a weekend in the spring. This is now our preferred hotel whilst staying in Derbyshire.

Absolutely brilliant experience staying at Oakhill with my wife and baby. The hotel staff went out of their way to make us comfortable throughout our stay. The location is fantastic, just a few minutes walk to the historic Cromford Mills, and the hotel is luxurious yet unpretentious. The team couldn't have been more welcoming.

What a lovely place. I have been very lucky recently to stay at hotels which have been upgraded and everything was great. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The good was delicious. The breakfast hearty. The gin selection fantastic. Room 5 had been expertly decorated by a renowned designer! Love the place. Nice quiet location where the birds sing

The hotel is in a quiet but convenient location with lovely grounds. Our room was huge - larger than it needed to be - but not especially cosy. Good breakfasts, evening meals OK but not especially thrilling. Lose a point for noisy heating system, that clicks on at 6.30, if you're not awake by that time you will be.

Found this hotel by complete chance when booking a surprise weekend away on the bike for the Mrs and I. Reasonable cost for the room which has been recently renovated just like the rest of the property. We were in a fairly secluded room as well with absolutely no noise and a quant little section of the grounds. We dropped our kit off and headed straight to the bar, served by a very nice lady who was nice and busy. They had a wedding on the same day, but this didn't seem to hinder our experience at all. The lounge area facing the gardens was beautiful. The garden area itself was very well kept and very pretty, plenty of Instagram opportunity! We wondered slightly further and found the caravan hitching points which were also very nice and faced further pretty grounds. We dined in the evening also, and whilst slightly overpriced (steaks), they were very good and cooked exactly how we asked. Compliments to the chef. Similarly, the breakfast was also very good the next morning with both menus providing a nice range of choice. Check out was a breeze and not rushed, we departed in fondness of our stay and will certainly bear this place in mind if we decide to visit Matlock again. Thanks to Hotel and staff.
