We go here for the self dog wash. Itβs mega. A βjet washβ style vending machine with everything you need, shampoo, conditioner, towels and aprons provided. My Rottie loves having a shower here. We donβt go anywhere else.

Becky was incredibly helpful today (13 Dec) when I needed some advice about fleas. Took the time to answer all my questions and was very knowledgeable. She also helped me create an account on the app. Thanks!

Today was my daughter's birthday, and we decided to buy her a Syrian hamster because she'd been asking for one for a long time. We went to the store, and the shopping began. First, the store employee asked if we had a cage. I replied, "Yes," it was the cage from my previous hamster (I bought this cage four years ago for our Syrian hamster, recommended by the salesperson who sold it to us back then). Then she asked how big the cage was, and I showed the lady the size with my hands. The salesperson demanded to see a picture of the cage because she needed to see it! Does the hamster purchase policy state that you must have a picture of your current cage when purchasing? Knowing it was my daughter's birthday and that I'd promised her this, I didn't want to disappoint her, so I agreed to buy the new cage the salesperson suggested. However, as I was going to the checkout, I noticed another cage that I liked better, and I wanted to buy it. However, the lady said this cage wasn't suitable for my hamster. It was the same size! The man at the checkout said the cage had poor ventilation. So why does this store offer cages with poor ventilation???!!! The entire visit, I felt like I was being cheated and ripped off... and in the end, they forced the cage on me. Now, on the Petsathome website, I found a cage I liked better, and it said it was for a Syrian hamster. Because I was with my child, it was the child's birthday, and my English wasn't perfect, the store used this to rip me off because they knew I wouldn't say no to the child. Sad. Our wonderful day ended very unpleasantly and stressfully.

Very very rude Kat βthe managerβ! We went in at 19:50 to buy cat food and we saw a cute fish we wanted to buy. When I approached the till she was already moaning to her colleagues and basically said she couldnβt give me the fish because she didnβt have enough time! Fair enough, but she couldβve told me in a nicer way not βehm itβs 10 to 8 you should come earlier if you want to buy a fish, we are closing!β. A simple βIβm afraid, I canβt right now because of the time, please come back tomorrowβ would have been nice! Pets at Home in Chester closes at 8 on a Monday, not 19:50!

This is a well-stocked store with staff that I've found polite and helpful across many visits. The small number of gerbils and rabbits are well-kept, and likewise, the fish tanks are all spotlessly clean with no sign of any algae bloom or disease.

Great place, got all my pet supplies here, Make sure you join the ViP club, especially if you got a new pet, the discount vouchers are worth it,

Staff are always friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, on our last visit, there was lots of algal growth in tanks on the bottom shelves and dead fish on view .With the aquascape I have , neither would attract me to buying :(

Love Pets at home, they really don't mind you bringing in your furry friends Only downside is I spend far too much

Only wanted some frozen food but picked up some snails as well. Explained to staff ive been keeping fish for over 20 years to be told 'i don listen when people tell me that, as policies change'. Yes they may change but basic fish keeping hasnt (cycled tank, safe water levels). Got the snails i wanted and was happy with them. Great price on snails and food though. Free parking is a bonus but please listen when customers say they have kept fish for a number of years they will know what they are talking about! *woudnt normally buy fish from here due to amount of fish under treatment and amount of dead ones in tanks-should he removed quickly. But what do i know?.....

Didn't have in stock what we wanted, offered an alternative store with stock but too far out of our way, great with advice and support. Clearly a busy store to not have stock left. These things happen
