Lovely lunch to brighten up a dreich day. The red pepper and cheddar quiche was very tasty, with salad and crisps on the side. The coffee is good, and the carrot cake was indulgent and very worth it! A quirky place with real character.
Fantastic community lunch and a great supply of good food and excellent gifts. Well worth a stop. Super nice staff too.
What a fantastic place, I love it, we had tea/coffee and cake, which were really different, apple and salted caramel scone and billionaires shortbread, set in the front part of the store surrounded by local arts and crafts Then you go to the back for all the fresh organic veggies, then further back again is where you can buy all sorts of dry ingredients from dispenser and also from the shelves laden with local honey and all you need for the pantry. In between the dining area is the till complete with piano and fridges for cold beverages and artisan sausage rolls etc. To the right of that are all the delightful freshly baked bread. You could get almost anything you wanted from here, from Clothes to Felt animals, paper pads, cloth bags and decorations.
Really good value high quality cafe - £5 quiche and salad, brownie/cake 2.20-2.50. Coffee delicious. Community lunch on a Wednesday. Visited on a Saturday pm - fast friendly service. Just what would hope from a local community focussed cafe. Dog friendly too (very near great walks at Penicuik House too). Recommend
A lovely café on the High Street, it also sells second hand books, random items that one would find in a charity shop shelf, it also sells organic, locally produced food and honey. It has a dry foods and cleaning products filling station at the back. It is community run and the staff/volunteers just leave you be. I’m going to have to have a coffee there one day. RECOMMENDED
Very different, cafe/restaurant and gift and food store. Organic, homemade items. We had delicious scones with real homemade raspberry jam,2 pats of butter each, and pots of tea. Excellent value for 3 only £12.75p in all. Very nice volunteer staff.
On Wednesdays they have a community meal and all they ask for is a donation. Honestly this place has a nice rustic feel, very vintage and you always feel very welcome, even as a stranger, you almost feel like part of the community regardless. Very nice food, lovely atmosphere and centrally located in Penicuik. 5 stars.
Lovely and inviting staff. The cheesecake is to die for, absolutely mouthwatering. The cappuccino is wonderful too. Highly recommend this place!
The Storehouse held our wedding lunch after our local Quaker ceremony. We were delighted how well the place scrubs up at the back for events. The cafe produced loads of fresh scones, salads and great coffee for 55 guests. Doors were opened so that guests would feel more comfortable, as for many this was the first event that they had been to with lots of folks for months/year+. Thank you so much to the wonderful staff and volunteers who took time and effort to make our day so wonderful.
