A classic pub in the Somerset countryside. Next to the Kennet and Avon Canal with a garden looking over the canal, the river Avon and the Avoncliff Aquaduct - a Victorian masterpiece! Great beer and other drinks with a limited - but high quality - menu of food. The terraced garden runs down to the river and is fabulous to visit during sunny weather.

Lovely pub and starting point for our canal walk. Outside seating with a view. 100% recommended. It's busy

Always loved this pub for it's location. Glad to see it reopened!! The view never disappoints, especially on a sunny day. Plenty of umbrellas for shade! Great selection of drinks, but the food has been better, the burgers were quite bland, dry and overcooked. Hopefully this is just a teething problem with the reopening. Will be back later in the summer to try food again!

Great position by the river. We intended to stop for a drink and snack, but two of us had proper meals. The food was lovely and my friend was very impressed with his burger. Nice coffee too.

We had such high hopes for this place and really wanted to love it. The location is stunning and the staff at the bar were so chatty and friendly but the food was so disappointing. A local actually warned us off as we walked up to the pub saying the food wasn't great, but we went ahead and ordered anyway. The fries were £7 a portion and over fried but only barely warm & the wings, although a great portion size & the chicken itself really nicely done, they have a very think dry rub which to us tasted a little burnt & very Smokey. They just weren't nice. We needed to remove it & left so much. And the sauce pots to dip are teeny that come with them. We'd come again for a drink but not for food.

This pub has the most stunning front garden, terraced on the steep slope down to the river. The food was good, but expensive - burger was around £16 if I remember correctly and it was nothing special. Will definitely return on a warm summers day for a drink and to enjoy the scenery though.

Visited yesterday with a mate, such a beautifully located pub surrounded by greenery and a river! However, I was really let down by the menu on offer. Not much for choice and the burger wasn't that nice - however, I was starving so ate it anyway. Staff are really lovely and helpful, very welcoming. Dog friendly pub too

Superb pub selling great beer. Attentive and polite staff make places like this more special. I had a burger which was absolutely delicious and very reasonably priced. The chutney was very nice with the salad and coleslaw being very fresh. The chips were great and the portion size very decent indeed. It would be nice to visit there again, I can imagine it's a spectacular spot when the sun's blazing.

Been going once a year for 5 years as it is on our canal boat route. This trip was for lunch. Food is excellent and staff always good. The only criticism is a very limited menu (wasn't clear it was a lunch tune menu) compared to previous visits and the only desert was a £3.00 tub of ice cream. Like I say food is amazing and we were too full for desert anyway. I just thought I would point this out. Saying that though they have a huge (and lovely) garden overlooking the river which is AMAZING so perhaps this is the reason for a limited menu this time? Anyway it's sort of a 5 star apart from the menu issue.

Visited the pub as we were driving past the town. We called first and was told that food finished at 20:30, and it was 20:15 when we rang. We arrived at 20:25 (I know!!) and we're greated with a big smile and a really polite staff member! The food came quickly and was really tasty. Would 10/10 recommend a visit!
