Situated in the docks area, the hotel is clean and basic but value for money. Service is excellent from friendly and helpful staff. There is a free car park which is a tight fit to enter. There is a bar but unfortnately no food served due to a kitchen refurb. Rooms are ensuite which again clean shower and towels so for the price okay

Can't compliment the staff and the service I received when I stayed at the Waterloo Hotel in Newport. Right from my arrival Jack, one of the staff at the hotel, was friendly and helpful, as were Raj and his son. The hotel interior is a stunning example of late Victorian architecture and interior design, with it's beautiful stained glass windows, and ornate staircases and banisters. The rooms are clean and cosy with good showers. The hotel is situated in the industrial area of Newport Docklands but as a female staying there alone, I felt very safe in the hotel. The car park is also locked between 9.30pm and 5.30am, which was reassuring to know my car was safe overnight.

Classic hotel. So much more interesting and comfortable than a premier Inn or an ibis and it was cheaper! The staff were friendly and helpful the room had high ceilings and felt classic with some art deco features.

I had an excellent stay at the Waterloo Hotel in Newport, Wales. The highlight of my experience was the outstanding service provided by Raj. Although the hotel clearly states in its confirmation email that reception is not open 24/7 and requests that guests inform them of late arrivals after 9pm, I failed to do so. Despite this, Raj went above and beyond by waking up around 1am to check me in personally. His professionalism and commitment to guest care were truly commendable. The room was spotless, the bed very comfortable, and the overall standard exceeded expectations. Given the quality of both the accommodation and service, the hotel represents exceptional value for money. I would highly recommend the Waterloo Hotel, particularly for the exemplary service demonstrated by Raj.

Front desk is not 24/7. They did not mention it on Google or the booking website I used (priceline.com). They were not there, leaving me with no room at night in a country I don't know. Had to search for an hour for a replacement for the same night. They didn't even give me a refund of my booking. The exterior and neighborhood didn't look good at all either. I recommend looking at other options.

Booked through work. Owner is a very pleasant, understanding and professsional person. Rooms are clean, comfortable and shower room perfect. The owner cares for guest experience and is always chatting to the guests ensuring a warm stay. Credit where it is due. Thank you

Characterful hotel. A bit dated, but probably in keeping with the building period. The TV in the room was a very poor grainy picture and only had few channels. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The 4 poster bed was very comfortable. The full english breakfast was the best I've ever had in a hotel! The bath dud seem to fill up when we were showering, so possibly needs an unblock!

My friends stayed at the hotel here about 8 years ago and I met them for dinner at the hotel's restaurant. Being totally honest, from the outside this hotel doesn't look much but by god is the food some of the best that I've tasted! The quaint grade 2 listed hotel has got the most beautiful original features and it's like stepping back in time when you go in there (it reminds me of the beautiful Crown and liquor bar in Belfast) it's so nice that it has been keep like this as I think it really adds to the ambiance and atmosphere. I loved it. Friendly staff, great food, beautiful original features. Highly recommend this little gem of place in Newport and I'll be going back very soon
