Always an incredible experience! Went again last night for what's now an annual Christmas visit. Superb vegan food and a super cosy pub! Can't wait to come again.
So much amazing food. Went for Christmas menu, best Christmas dinner I've had in decades. Partner said the same. They've absolutely nailed the classics, and have a ridiculous selection of classics and more adventurous options (like the Bubble and Squeak Burger). If you're fed up of going to places with a limited veggie-friendly section, this place will heal your soul. Portion-wise 2 courses is filling. But go 3 course because it's so darn good. If you don't have a starter you're missing out, and you have to make sure to have dessert. (My choice of an extra starter was delicious but definitely excessive!) I was watching other people's food being served and it all looked fantastic too. Can't wait to go back to try more of the menu! The Tiramisu Cheesecake was an absolute stand-out for my coffee-loving partner, and I loved the Winter Forest Trifle.
Utterly spectacular! The food is worth a visit, wherever you may live, make a trip just to experience the best vegan pub food we have ever experienced. We ate everything we ordered, and got dessert to go because we were so full and it was so good. We shared a main and three sides to enjoy a bit of everything. The serving team were great; super friendly and chatty. Dogs are well catered for with blankets, treats and a doggy menu which made our whole family feel welcome and special. The only downside was other people watching videos on their phones upset the ambience; when you’re trying to eat amazing food in good company, you want to hear Fleetwood Mac on the sound system, not someone else’s main character energy- so maybe asking people not to use the volume on their phones would help. The carpark is large, there is a cute duck pond and outside space. Cannot wait to come back one day. Thank you for staying vegan. We will do our best to support you, just don’t bring dead animals to the menu.
Food is always excellent! Great variety on the menu and always hot and tasty with great service. Brought family members who didn’t believe they’d like anything on the menu as are meat eaters, were talking about getting McDonald’s on the way home etc.. and they loved it! Said the burgers and flank tasted just like meat and that it was tasty and really digestible. They tried cauliflower wings and said it was better than chicken wings (high praise from them) Regularly go for a roast as it is so good - not normally a roast dinner kind of person but I have to make an exception for how good it is here! Staff are super welcoming, friendly and careful with allergies and couldn’t recommend more!
If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Traditional, Unpretentious pub classics, perfectly cooked and everything plant based. I left completely stuffed already having planned what to order next time. Service was friendly, food arrived quickly. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone I know whether they're plant based or not. Dogs are also very welcome!
Went here for the January 2022 "steakhouse" menu and was really impressed. They had a wide range of meat alternatives from various companies. We ordered 3 starters to share and they were all great. I tried the Juicy Marbles filet which was nice, however for me their sides were probably the best part of the meal. Hadn't had peppercorn sauce since going vegan so I loved that, and proper (not frozen) chips are always a winner. If I lived closer I would definitely be a regular. The outside area looks like it would be lovely in the summer, and the staff were all really friendly, and very helpful with my booking and helping me plan taxis etc as I am not from the area
Wow ! Once again another pub/restaurant that deserves more than 5 stars Jumped straight into my top 2 vegan places. Everything is vegan and every single plates we ordered were amazing. The quality, the quantity, the prices ... All top. The staff is really nice and friendly. This is a dog friendly restaurant as well. Please come and visit them, you won't regret it a second.
Really enjoyed our first visit to The Queen Inn, Cwmbran. They've opened up a few more spaces for their festive menu if you want to book. Totally delicious and very full!! Can't wait to visit again. Keep up the great work! As a vegan I love being able to choose anything on the menu :-)
We visited the Queen Inn on a boiling hot Sunday afternoon after a long drive. On the phone previously when checking availability, the lady was very accommodating. The staff were very friendly and helpful when we turned up too, giving the impression that nothing was too much trouble. We really liked that although it was completely plant based, it still had the charm of a traditional local welsh pub. The drinks options were good, with, decent cask ales, keg beers, ciders and lagers available I had a pint of Tiny Rebel Easy living, which is one of my favourite breweries and local. The food we had was a Traditional chicken roast and a Mediterranean tart. Both were very good sized portions, with all the sides and trimmings being to a good standard. The Traditional chicken and Med tart were both very tasty too. It all came out in good time with no problems. I have tried many vegan roast dinners before, more often than not I come away very disappointed. This on the other hand was fantastic. I can't recommend the experience of going here enough. Keep being vegan, keep being awesome, keep being The Queen Inn.
