When our dog was sick, they were incredible at helping us and keeping us calm. Ben in particular spent the time to explain the situation to us in detail and put our minds at ease. Highly recommend for their attentive care and service!

My review comes incredibly late as my experience happened in February of this year. My dog started seizing at around 2am, and after calling around to many vets, i was told to call Ambivet as they have an emergency vet on call. When i called i was told my dog could be taken care of for around £200, then i was told £800 and then it went up again to over a thousand. I was told this would have to be paid ASAP and it could not be paid for using a payment plan. Then when i told them i did not have this money on hand and that i needed help immediately as the seizing had not calmed down even after 5mg of diazepam that we had been prescribed just in case of a prolonged seizure, they passed me onto another number, who then passed me back to Ambivet and it went back and fourth like that until he'd been seizing for over an hour and i snapped at the staff (i apologised after). Then eventually i was passed onto PDSA nottingham who managed to sort out a veterinary practice for me to take my beloved dog to, and was given an address in PDSA Derby, which i apparently should have been given from the get-go from Ambivet the moment they knew i could not feasibly pay before treatment. Unfortunately the back and forth between Ambivet and the other number had taken too long and had resulted in irreversible damage to my dog and he could not stop seizing even with medication because of the damage to his brain and he passed away at 10:30am that same day after spending the entire time at PDSA Derby under their care. Even 7 months on I am heartbroken and struggling to cope with this loss. Buddy was my entire world and i am disgusted and still incredibly mad at the "care" of the out of hours team here. Refusing care because someone cannot afford inflated prices is cruel. I was okay paying for £200 but when it kept going up and up until it was over £1000 it felt like a horrific joke. Ambivet is not in the pet care business, they are in the money business. God bless PDSA Derby for doing their best.

Thank you for your amazing care of Effy at a very worrying time for us. I really appreciated the prompt appointments, the care shown by all the staff, the detailed explanation of issues and treatments… and of course being able to collect her and bring her home after you had made her better!

Awful Awful Awful. Brought my dog in for consultation/to be prescribed some drops. It was £113 which I don’t mind paying, had the treatment have worked. Having dogs for 30+ years, when I was given the drops I did think they hadn’t prescribed me enough and that’s what I said to the vet, unfortunately, that’s because, it wasn’t enough, the vet knew this but told me I needed to just come in again and spend another £113. All this surgery is concerned about is ROBBING YOU. The receptionists are lovely, bar one named Jane that is absolutely vile and you could write on the back of a postage stamp how much she knows about animals. Go to this surgery to have your wallet emptied and your animals NOT taken care of. All these people care about is making money, do not use this vet practice if you care about your pet. AVOID AVOID AVOID

Unfortunately after 16 years with the heanor practice and 3 dogs I have had to leave but would like to say that not because of the receptionists they have always been so nice and caring and Paul is an amazing vet but the manager has made me feel so upset with the way she spoke to me even though the bill query was sorted and I offered to pay more she still threatened me with dept collectors and never even asked how my dog was doing.never go there again because of her

We sadly had to say goodbye to our beautiful boy Rex yesterday, the out of hours team couldn't have been better, calming, informative and compassionate waiting till my son arrived so we could say bye and be with him to the end. Thank you x

Having just moved here from Canada, I was understandably apprehensive of going to a new vet. We took one of my cats in for the first time today and were over the moon happy with the service we received. The vet was lovely and kind, personnel on the phone was the same. No suggestion of any unnecessary services. I would 100% recommend Ambivet to anyone looking. Great service and my boy is feeling a whole lot better now! Thank you very much, we greatly appreciate you! :)
