Extremely disappointed with my experience. I took my miniature dachshund in for a health check and to have a new mass on her nipple examined. I wasn’t sure if it was a cyst or something more serious, so I wanted proper guidance. My mum brought her in for me as I was running late, and while she was trying to explain my dog’s medical history, the vet was rude, kept interrupting, and even made an unnecessary comment along the lines of, “Well, if you had cancer, I couldn’t tell just by looking at you.” Completely unprofessional. My dog was then taken inside while we were left waiting outside under a shelter. When she was brought back, we were simply told she needed surgery next week—no explanation, no discussion of what it could be, no pros or cons, nothing. We were expected to speak through a window instead of having a proper conversation. Overall, the whole experience left me with zero confidence. I’ve only been registered for a week and will definitely be moving my pets elsewhere.

Unfortunately after years of singing this places' praises I can no longer do so and no longer recommend it. A family dog was recently checked over due to weight loss (3 years old) got told at the appointment she seemed fine couldn't find anything abnormal. 1 week later the dog suddenly with no warning dropped down dead. Recently contacted for my own dog who was having an issue with sore skin, I was met on the end of the phone with a very rude Janice Dixon who kept interrupting me when I was talking, did not offer any advice and the first thing she said was "ok so do you want to leave it then" if I wanted to leave it I wouldn't have rang in the first place would I. My expectations were a chat about his symptoms, duration he has had it, anything from her own experience from years of treatment, things to try at home but no mention of any of it. I got the impression all she wanted was to get an appointment booked in and to get off the phone which is completely fine if that is determined as the best outcome. If I'm going to trust you with my dog there needs to be a degree of kindness, compassion and general friendly telephone manner. If you can't be nice to me why would I think you're going to be nice to my dogs? Especially when not able to be in the same room as them. I feel it is worth noting that after making the appointment then changing my mind I rang back and spoke to a different person who was lovely however because there is a chance of an appointment with Janice then my dogs will be going to a different vet. Turns out my dog was deficient in Zinc which was found out quickly through questions and answers.

Wouldn’t recommend, as when it was the time for our boy to leave us, he was muzzled (never bitten in his life) a real softy, told Janice he didn’t need the muzzle “ I’m not taking the chance” was the reply! our boy then had the upset of a muzzle in his last moments. His fear in the last moments wasn’t nice! Also once he had gone I asked for his collar and she took it off and his head hit the floor. Never again, when the time comes please look for a more loving compassionate vet

The vet was very efficient. They were actually the cheapest bet for this procedure. We rang several vets. They dealt with the procedure we needed and an additional procedure. Actually they did give us a little reduced price because she was already going in for something so we had two procedures done at the same time thank you very much for the after-care and we’ll be looking forward to Rosie‘s next set of health checks. Many thanks.

This is by far the best vets in the business. My beautiful cat was put to sleep today after a short illness and I really need to vocalise just how amazing Jade was at comforting me, supporting me, advising me. She is one incredibly amazing young woman, patiently talking me through procedures and what happens next and persevering with me being a general snotty mess. Thank you Jade, for everything. And of course to Natasha the vet, you were also absolutely amazing and professional in every way. Thank you so much for all you did for my Ninja.

Sadly my cat died. Had her cremated with Dixon & young. They were fantastic. Staff were sympathetic and understanding. Price and package was a little cheaper than elswhere. Had a lovely card and pine box containing my cats ashes. All round great service. Thank you very much appreciated. I would recommend them.

Did a great job of getting our puppy back to health. Can't give fives stars as really dislike not being able to go inside with the animal. Our cat is very anxious and I am sure she would do better if we could go in with her. Thank you however for your wonderful care of Bruce.

I have two rescue dogs, neither have been socialised (currently work in progress). Everyone at the vets supported my dogs needs and their personalities. Both dogs willing went, at ease, with the vet for their treatment. All credit to the experienced and compassionate, professional staff that work at Dixon and Young. Thank you! 15.08.22 Had to take one of our pet rats to have her teeth done and the vet did a thorough check and advised the rat also had a chest infection, antibiotics helped straight away. Thanks to Janice, our rat is now feeling much better, eating and putting weight back on. Thanks again to Janice and her team!!!

I absolutely love this vet practice. It really is the best. They are straight, honest; no frills, kind and to be very honest reasonable. They also listen to you. I am very happy with all my experiences and there have been plenty, I have 4 shihtzus (one elderly). I see the same vet each time for her, which in itself is amazing. Also they accommodate really well with appointments, nothing is too much trouble. Thank you so much I highly recommend
