   My whippet was referred to dovecote with what the vet thought might be a spinal issue. They very quickly and very throughly diagnosed him with an autoimmune conditions and ruled out other possible issues . He was kept overnight following an mri , blood-work and spinal and joint taps. They left nothing to chance and he was thoroughly examined . The MRI also revealed degenerative disc disease . I have to say that the care has been exemplary, from reception through to the specialist consultations and procedures I cannot fault anything. His condition is ongoing and so he will be under their care for months to come , they review him regularly and have gone above and beyond to find the right medications and dosage to enable the best possible recovery. He has been under the care of both Vera ( neuro) and Clara ( internal medicine ) who have shown that the team work together incredibly well . when clara was introduced to his case , she knew absolutely every detail about his history and what I had told the neurologist initially . Prior to our consult she had learned about my dog thoroughly. Both are exceptional vet specialist and if your dog has either a neurological issue or a medical issue i would highly recommend them, they have a natural way with dogs and it’s clear that they love them. My dog is nervous ( whippets are wimps by nature) but both specialists sat down on the floor , spent time making him comfortable and really reading his body language . As well as the incredible and genuine care he has recieved here , the team have totally transformed his feeling and fear around going to the vets , he has transitioned from a shaking , crying mess that would bolt at the first opportunity , into a dog that happily walks in the door like he owns the place and LOOKS for the vet with excitement . It is nothing short of miraculous to be honest. The waiting area is clean and inviting , the reception team are friendly and welcoming , they are consistently helpful ! it’s not a case of who you have on the day in front of you, they have all been excellent the five visits we have had so far. The vet has called me several times to check in on how he’s doing , checked for side effects of medication and talked through the plan for him moving forward . His treatment plan is thorough, the vet also talks through other back up options should they be required . He will be back at Dovecote next Wednesday to see clara , for the first time since I have had him I am not worried how stressed he might be. we are so appreciative of the wonderful care . Thank you

   Absolutely first class treatment for my boy Hugo he’s just had major surgery so early days but the whole experience has been positive and I feel he has been. In safe hands from the start hopefully he makes a full recovery but I can not fault the surgeons and staff

   We were referred here with a dog with disc problems, the vets were incredibly thorough. Our dog had to stay overnight and we had twice daily updates and were given the opportunity to ask questions. Really detailed and couldn’t have asked for more!

   My dog was referred here a few months ago, as she needed emergency surgery on her back. However, another out of hours vet practice who I saw less than 24 hours before, told me she was nowhere near needing surgery. Now, that's not very good and is being looked into. The care given here was excellent, the operation went well and she was looked after for a few days. Then home for some TLC, after several weeks of crate rest and a follow up visit, she is doing really well. My wife, myself and Mabel are extremely grateful to all of the staff here.

   Our boy Creeper was close to death after a severe blockage when he came to Dovecote. Not only did they save him once but twice as he reblocked a few months later. He was a complicated case and we had been told prior to coming to Dovecote his chances of surviving were low. We could not be happier or more grateful to the entire team who was a part of saving him. Everyone were absolutely amazing and we couldn't recommend them high enough ♥️

   We had to rush our Douglas down from West Yorkshire one Friday morning for an emergency MRI, it turned out our poor boy had a slipped disc and had to go through surgery. Us not being able to stay down in Derbyshire was really difficult for us but the team at Dovecote on his 5 day stay was absolutely amazing, a special mention to Sara his surgeon and everyone who took care of Douglas whilst he was there. We were kept up to date with his progress by phonecalls, photos and videos. For the 7 years of having Douglas he's never left our sides so the distance was very difficult but knowing he was settled and happy with all the staff meant the world to us! We just want to say a massive thank you! For making such a difficult and unexpected situation that little bit better.

   Our German Shepherd Troy was on palliative care, when during the early hours of Thursday morning he started bringing up frothy sick. We had to take him to dovecote veterinary hospital, and they were wonderful in explaining the options and Troy's that Troy didn't have many hours left. They were absolutely amazing with their empathy and care for Troy and us. Thank you so much for giving us peace at our time of sorrow.
