   The Hill House Inn in Happisburgh is the kind of pub you dream of stumbling into on a windswept Norfolk day. Perched not far from the cliffs, it has that mix of cosy charm and a bit of history woven into the beams. Inside, it feels like the sort of place where smugglers probably once traded contraband rum under the table while pretending to just be “popping in for a pint”. The ale is well-kept, the food hearty, and the welcome as warm as the fire in winter. It’s one of those pubs where you immediately relax – the dog gets a biscuit, you get a pint, and suddenly you’re contemplating whether moving to Happisburgh full-time might be a good life choice. The menu covers all the pub classics you want when by the sea, and the portions are not stingy. Pair that with friendly staff and a bit of local banter, and you’re onto a winner. If you’re anywhere near the North Norfolk coast, stop in. The Hill House isn’t just a pub, it’s part of the story of Happisburgh – and once you’ve been, you’ll find yourself looking for excuses to “accidentally” pass by again.

   Great location, short walk from the beach and lighthouse. But at 6pm on a friday the bar staff and kitchen staff were considerably overwhelmed. Kitchen staff came out flustered and visibly exclaimed at the sight of people at the bar. We were promptly told food was not on, whilst they were bringing plates out from the kitchen to the tables around us. Locals arriving later, were given a different message. As we were told about the food, the barman said, if that pints no good come back. It wasnt good. It was far from good. Instantly returning it to the bar lead to a 10 minute wait for its replacement. It's replacement was decent however. On the whole a genuine, but far from wholesome experience. Such a shame I really wanted to like it and make it a local base. Maybe I'll chance it at a quieter time.

   Took friends back here for lunch yesterday - whole lobsters were on special, absolutely lovely! We also had a ploughmans and fish and chips.Great portions fresh and tasty. Service and drinks excellent too

   We ate and drank here while staying at the campsite down the road. The staff were very friendly, there was a good range of, well kept, beers and ciders and the food was tasty. Will definitely come back to Happisburgh just to visit this pub. Location is great too, right on the cliff, an easy walk to the lighthouse.

   A cosy and charming pub where locals and visitors both feel welcome. Great choice of 4 real ales, and a welcoming log fire to enjoy them by. Full of character and a perfect spot for a lazy afternoon.

   Character pub with great history, ales and I love the traditional menu. However... My garden shed is cleaner and the quality of the food is somewhat suspect.

   Only called in for a beer on this trip although l have been a regular visitor over the years. I was served and welcomed by a young Man, the welcome was on the surface very good, however there seemed a lack of any further interest!! However the owner and Landlord saved the Day as he had a genuine welcome and came and sat with me and we had a very interesting conversation. The traditional ails were excellent, I tride two different beers both were real good well kept and served. Limited menu, on this occasion l didn't eat. However the prices were very reasonable.

   Exactly what we needed, great food, good portions, great value for money before a long drive home. Staff were very welcoming, friendly and very accommodating, 8 people & puppy dog at short notice. Would definitely recommend.

   Spent one night at this lovely old inn in November. The owners, Clive and Sue, are wonderfully attentive and great fun. The bar meals of fish and chips were incredibly delicious. The coach house room was very clean and quiet. The inn is steeped in history, as is the village. I recommend a visit!
