Lack-lustre with lazy staff. Our host ( Norbert) was great, but generally the place felt neglected. The young lady behind the bar was polite but left a dirty cup on bar and didn’t clean up after making cappuccino for s as t least the hour we were watching! See photo!!! Food was good but won’t be returning - what a shame!
We visited the Papillon to see a couple of our favourite bands but also had dinner before the gig. The service & food in the restaurant was fabulous. The brie bites where delicious & the gammon with duck egg was fantastic. Reasonably priced for the quality of the food with attentive service. The second half of the evening turned into one of the best gigs we have been to. Cracking atmosphere with great acoustics with it being a former church. Looking forward to going back.
This is such a cool venue, and the food was so good! My partner and I came here for our anniversary and it was such a nice evening. Our server Jayser was very kind and attentive (and even brought us a dessert for our anniversary). 5/5!
We got married here on 4/10/25 and it was the best day of our lives. I cannot fault the service we received at any point start to finish. The day ran perfectly. Tommy was an absolute star on the day making sure everything ran smoothly and interacting with guests who all loved him, he was so professional. Sam was so kind in the run up to the wedding getting everything ready, he really did think of everything. The bar staff and waiters were joyous, especially Leo. Thank you Papillon for hosting the best day of our lives , you will always have a special plac in our hearts.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lucy and I popped into Papillon before heading to a show at the theatre across the road, and we’re so glad we did! From the start we were welcomed with smiley, friendly staff which instantly set the tone. The venue itself is stunning – a beautifully renovated church with a warm, inviting ambiance. For food, I had the vegan burger and Lucy went for the rosemary chicken – both absolutely amazing. For dessert, I couldn’t resist my favourite apple crumble with ice cream (perfect!), while Lucy had the special Biscoff option, which was soft, indulgent and absolutely delicious. All in all, a brilliant experience. Perfect for dinner before a show at the Mayflower. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Southampton, and we’ll definitely be back!
Really varied cocktail menu and all tasted delicious. Food was high quality and presented well. Service was excellent; waiters were attentive. Thanks for a great evening , will be back soon.
This should be a 5 star review because the food was good, the servers were friendly and helpful, and the ambience was pleasant. However the kitchen was over whelmed so our food was very late. We arrived at 5.20pm after the theatre for dinner. Our starters came out at 6.30 and we were very happy with the standard of food. Our server informed us that the chefs were backed up and it might be a slight wait. However we didn't get our main meal until 8pm. By this time we were the last people eating when all around us the tables had been packed away and the night club was already playing loud music. We couldn't hear ourselves talk so we had to leave and have dessert and coffee elsewhere. Our server, Claire, was very good and did everything she could to make it right for us so that we would be happy to return. I think we will give it another try. Prices were reasonable for quality and portion sizes. Well recommended.
A Sunday roast to die for!!! Perfection across the board for a roast at Papillon. The potatoes were crispy on the outside and beautifully fluffy on the inside, the portions were fantastic. Even the vegetarian option was lovely. And the service lived up to our expectations. Thank you for an awesome Sunday!
Papillon is situated in one of the iconic buildings in Southampton. The interior is well preserved and decorated really well. I found the tables quite small though, not much space to move around with food and drinks. But the customer service was brilliant, and the food was amazing. We had the vegan burger, triple cooked chips and warm pistachio cake. Each one of them were perfectly cooked and tasted delicious. Specially loved the pistachio cake that was served with cream cheese frosting. The combination was epic and the cake melted in the mouth. We had a great experience dining there and highly recommend this place.
I would rate 6 if I could! We went in today for a Sunday roast and it was one of the best I have ever had. Everything was on point, with the added joy of a beef brisket croquette for the roast beef and a lovely cauliflower cheese dish as a side. The pork and beef roasts were tender and cooked to perfection. We also tried the biscoff espresso martini and the bread and butter pudding. Wonderful ambience, and we particularly enjoyed the music. The service was very good, and the food arrived faster than we expected.
