I booked this hotel for a special birthday and couldn’t have wished for a more gorgeous room. We had the Sir Samuel Sleigh suite, which I specifically requested, as it is simply stunning. Original beams, four-poster bed, a bath of dreams and a beautiful, clean and well thought out space. Rich was in touch with me from booking to arrival over several weeks, nothing was too much trouble and he went above and beyond to make sure it was perfect for us - even sorting some decorations and ensuring the room was set up before we arrived. He greeted us and helped us with bags to the room and was simply lovely. I could not recommend this hotel enough. Thank you Rich and your brilliant team for a wonderful stay (our favourite room we’ve ever stayed in!). We can’t wait to come back.

I had the suite here last night. The staff were friendly and the room was lovely, but if you're a cold person I'd avoid outside summer. It was quite cold, and the room wasn't overly warm. There was also the issue of 0 phone signal, which obviously isn't the hotels issue, but it made communication an issue. The WiFi was adequate, and overall a good stay. Just sort out the radiators and duvet :-)

Brilliant overnighter- only required a small room and it was super comfortable, very quiet and conducive to a good night's sleep. Nice bar, and superb continental breakfast. A pleasure to meet Richard too, and chat over all things Stockport.

We were in a compact room outside of the main pub, and it suited us fine. It had everything we could have needed and was a great base for us after Alton Towers. The people who work here though truly are the kindest and friendliest. I somehow lost my purse in their car park and they found it, contacted me and kept it safe until we could come back for it. They even offered to post it for me. It was such a relief for it to be found. I just wanted to say a massive thank you again.

Stayed here for my time in Etwall and you couldn’t pick a better spot. The location is fantastic and the room itself was nicely decorated and well maintained. This is all second to the first rate service and the friendliest of staff, who were extremely helpful during my visit. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in lovely Etwall.

We booked a table here for 18.15 on a Saturday afternoon. We've given it the benefit of the doubt after we visited a couple of months ago. I'm sorry to say it's gone from bad to worse!!! So this time it's pizza only.. no sides !! and when we asked how long it would be if we ordered food all we got was " I'll need to call the chef to see how long he's going to be as he's had to pop out" We also asked if the pizza could be done with a garlic base as my partner can't eat tomatoe based pizzas. To our surprise the chap behind the bar said " all our pizza bases come sauce ready so the chef wouldn't be able to do a garlic base!! ( Really)!!! Is he a chef or just a chap who puts the base under the pizza oven? I'm sorry but needless to say we walked out. To book a table, ask a question regarding the pizza base, to be told that someone would call you back but no-one has then to be told the chef isn't on the premises then that is rubbish !!! A lovely building and local pub ruined by incompetent management!! Avoid at all cost. Your better off spending a little more for a lovely meal in Hilton like we have tonight!!

A nursery that sells beer, can't class it as anything else, not a great environment or combination. Kids running wild with no supervision, a poorly run, anxiety inducing mess, won't be coming back.

I can’t review the food as we didn’t stay. If you have small children this place might be fine, but it is no longer a pleasant country pub with cosy seating for a meal or chat with friends. They seem to have turned it into a children’s theme park with brightly coloured plastic chairs and plastic grass on the walls. The television and colouring-in rooms made me feel I was at kindergarten and that my food would arrive already cut up for me. The staff were excellent, young and very welcoming, but I doubt they had much to do as the place was nearly empty. Other reviews seem to be good here so maybe the change of direction is just not for us, but if anyone has not been for a while be aware, it is very different now.

Lovely place to visit. Came with the family. Friendly staff and inviting, unlike it use to be as never really felt welcome. The kids cinema room and colouring area went down a treat as did the outside play area. The food was lovely quality and we didn't have to wait long for food between each serving. The decor was lovely and went well as a theme. The staff were very helpful and couldn't have done anymore to welcome us.
