Attended my auntie's funeral and needed a place to stay overnight. Found this through Booking.com and booked a night. Room was good with a lovely bathroom and shower, bed could have been a bit more comfy but always miss my own. Had breakfast the next morning which was ample and nicely cooked. Friendly staff and lovely location.

We had a very nice stay at this dog friendly hotel. The location is excellent. The staff are all very friendly and efficient. The breakfast is very good. We ate an evening meal which was ok. Sadly the room was quite noisy at night and I think it was a noisy extractor fan from a neighbouring room that went on and off all night. The reception isn’t manned from 23:00-07:00 but you get a code to enter the building during these hours. Useful for dog owners taking their pets out for a wee walk! Unfortunately when the staff come back on duty at 7, they turn on the piped music which plays in the lobby, the bar area and the restaurant. However there are also speakers on the outside patio which can be heard from the room we were in. Not the time I want to be woken up on my restful break. The hotel seems to be in a process of redecorating so it is hard to tell if some of the poor workmanship is from before or after. I hope before, as it is a potential gem of a hotel with a few tweeks We had the four poster room and the photos on the website are from before the change. The bed needs some tidying up and improving ( see photo) Overall this place benefits from its great location, friendly staff and warm welcome for dogs. I’m sure many guests will return for that alone. I hope the work being carried out improves the building and builds on the opportunity to create a peaceful comfortable haven in the forest

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Hidden Gem in the Heart of the New Forest From the moment we arrived at Woodlands Lodge, we were greeted with warmth and professionalism that set the tone for an unforgettable stay. The customer service was exceptional—every request was met with genuine care and efficiency, making us feel truly valued. The food was a standout. Dining at the Cattlegrid Restaurant was a delight, with each dish beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. Whether it was breakfast on the terrace or a cozy dinner indoors, every meal felt like a treat. The staff were incredibly friendly, striking the perfect balance between attentive and relaxed. Their local knowledge and cheerful demeanor added a personal touch that made our experience even more enjoyable. Our room was lovely—tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean, and wonderfully comfortable. Waking up to views of the surrounding greenery was a dream, and the peaceful atmosphere made it easy to unwind. One of the biggest highlights was the direct access to the New Forest. Just steps from the hotel, we found ourselves immersed in nature, with scenic walking trails, wildlife spotting, and endless opportunities to explore. There’s so much to do around the area, from charming villages and pubs to cycling routes and historic sites. Whether you’re after adventure or tranquility, Woodlands Lodge is the perfect base. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a relaxing escape with top-notch hospitality and the beauty of the New Forest right on your doorstep.

Great service , room was good size , with ensuite, separate shower and bath. Breakfast was good a little over priced. Staff were friendly loved the grounds and access to the woods and walks from the garden.

We visited the Lodge for afternoon tea, sadly following a funeral of a dear family friend. The team were very attentive and happy to help. We were in the conservatory area which was comfortable enough. With lovely all round views of the garden. The tea itself was nice. A selection of sandwiches and scones with cream and jam. Along with tea and coffee. The bar was well stocked, with no draft beers or soft drinks. Everything was bottled. I cannot comment on the rooms. An old building with character. And a pleasant afternoon. Parking available.

We stayed for 2 nights in mid-Jan during the height of the cold/wet spell, when the ground underfoot was part-frozen and water-logged. Not ideal conditions for walking with 2 dogs. The Hotel was excellent. The building was of dated design, but had been upgraded, and was extremely comfortable. The suite we had was ideal for the dogs with access straight out into the gardens and beyond. The meals throughout were of very high quality. The staff likewise were everywhere charming and welcoming. We did not think the charges excessive, but it was low season. Highly recommended

Imogene and the team are absolutely amazing, they hosted our wedding and it was truly amazing. The food is second to none. The whole weekend was perfect from the forest walks to the cosy Comfy spacious rooms.

The view was great. The toilet seat was disgusting. Walls super thin that could hear neighbours just talking Bed sheet and teapot hasn't been cleaned before arrival. Raised it with the receptionist, she was nice and polite but couldn't give my money back cause it's been pre paid. Also there's a very weird open area ceiling above the bathroom which is filthy and feels like some rats could be living up there, therefore couldn't sleep and woke up with every noise.
