I’ve been a member of this club for many years. It’s great. I love the classes, particularly Body pump, balance and combat All of the instructors are great. In fact all the staff are friendly and helpful. The changing rooms and pool area are clean and well maintained. Highly recommend
Signed up to Nuffield with Carly. She made the process feel so much less anxiety provoking. Felt really welcome. Lovely lady. The gym within its self is a 5 star environment. Good range of equipment. Swimming pool and changing rooms are always clean. Great price for what your getting
What a great place. From the warm welcome I received from the reception staff to the cleaning staff. But I need to give the shout out to the cleaning staff. Someone who suffers from OCD, I am rather impressed. The cleanliness of the place was spotless! Cannot fault it. Not every day you go into a gym and can say it was this clean. Nothing was too much trouble for the lovely lady (I believe was Kerry) came straight away. Even offered to clean up myself, but she politely declined and told me “not to worry, it’s all apart of her job”. What a great attitude to have. :) Keep up the great work.
The old virgin gym is still pretty good. A large swimming pool in the middle of the club and the gym upstairs. There is a big selection of free weights, as well machines for strength and cardio. The fitness studios are large and well equipped. There is 3 for general, holistic and spin. The changing rooms are large and spacious, as is the cafe area.
A large gym area with six squat racks, a rig area, a dedicated dumbell section, a wide variety of machines, and a hip thrust machine. Alas as yet no reverse hyper machine. Additionally, a wide timetable of great classes, two swimming pools, sauna, steam-room, and cafe that's serves great coffee.
Broken equipment for weeks and maybe months. Sauna and steam room became a joke, probably saving on bills as you can sit there for half an hour and barely make any sweat. A month ago had a debt collecting agency chasing me, claiming that owe Nuffield 63£. Check direct debit and all payments were up to date. Have contacted general manager explaining the situation and the reply was: yes your payments are up to date I will contact them. Didn't even apologized for this misunderstanding. Will be considering moving with kids to another gym.
The equipment stay broken during months !!!its old and for few non functional and sticky. Lots of new connected equipment would be nice to invest in... Some equipment are not used at all and should just be replaced by more benchs and useful ones. In afterwork hours there is just lots of people, better after 7.30pm. The pool is nice but smaller than in pictures. Clean except for the floor you need flip, need a padlock. People are respectful.
Spa broke for 2 months in summer. Nothing, no reimbursement, vouchers, nothing. Now e mailing members saying they can’t afford to heat it. Didn’t cost them anything for 2 months !! Pathetic considering the monthly cost. 6 machines out of order plus both water fountains broken . Gone downhill fast since taking over from virgin. Can’t provide the facilities I signed up to because of costs for a company this size it’s insulting. Just greedy hiding behind costs. Avoid this place
This gym and some staff are a joke, the spa was out for months, then they reopen it just to let members know the spa pool will be closing for 6 months to save money and that they’d be no reduction in membership price, the benches were ripped all over the gym made a complaint nothing got done, turned to social media to complain and a week later it was fixed, then had a member of staff come up to me while training to tell me not to post on social media about the poor standard of the gym! (They have blocked me on social media now) 1/3 of Treadmills have been out of action for over 6 months, cable machines always breaking, changing rooms and gym covered in dust! AVOID
This is not my first visit to the place. The entrance was well maintained; clean and presentable. The staff greeted us when we got to the desk; great to see more than one receptionist dealing with all the other guests. We were told where everything was and allowed to go our own way and was told that if we had any questions we could go back to reception. The gym was pretty busy but there were staff on hand to help. Overall the experience was great and would recommend going.
