   A mixed experience overall. This venue, formerly the Cottage Inn many years ago, still delivers excellent food. The kitchen produced a beautifully prepared meal, full of flavour and quality, which largely justifies the higher prices compared to competitors. Credit is certainly due to the chef and kitchen team, who were outstanding. Service was inconsistent. The young waitress who took our order was polite and friendly, and the tall young gentleman serving the food was exceptional — attentive, efficient, precise, and genuinely welcoming. He is a real asset to the establishment. Unfortunately, the restaurant itself has some notable issues. The ambient temperature is uncomfortable, being either too hot or too cold, particularly when the rear doors are opened and draughts come through. This detracts from the experience, especially when the restaurant is busy. I would also advise avoiding the table opposite the kitchen, as the seating there is uncomfortable. The biggest disappointments were at the front of house. The barman was very difficult to understand, and the older lady and gentleman hosting were unfriendly, unhelpful and irritable, showing little in the way of basic customer service. This did not feel like a one-off “bad day” and suggests retraining would be beneficial. Overall, an average experience — elevated by excellent food and strong service from some staff, but let down by poor atmosphere control and inconsistent customer service.

   We had a lovely Sunday lunch celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary. Beautiful cosy pub with a friendly buzzing atmosphere. The decor is gorgeous and we're sat near an open fire which was perfect on a cold day. We had our wedding dinner here 2 years ago so it holds a special memory for us. We both had the pork belly roast dinner which was plentiful and delicious. Looking forward to going back soon.

   I was stuck in the area due to bad weather and booked an overnight stay here last minute. Easily a 5 star review. The pub is lovely, located in the countryside just outside of Windsor. The staff were welcoming. I was completely blown away by my room. The rooms are out back and quiet, away from the main pub. My room was beautifully decorated. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The underfloor heating was a treat! The shower was beautiful. Loved the complimentary home baked shortbread. To my delight, in the morning I realised that I had access to my own little garden, where I had a cuppa and listened to the birds chirping. Everything was to a high standard and I could not believe how reasonable the price was.

   Easy 5 stars. It is rare to get perfect service and over night stay but the Winning Post managed it with such ease it belied how busy they were. Every staff member went out way to accomodate anything asked. Had dinner at fully booked Saturday eve. The waiting staff were superb despite us changing our minds every few seconds. Food was delicious, again impressive given every seat was taken. Our stay was superb. Many thanks to all the staff for a great stay

   Incredible! What an amazing refurbishment to this establishment. We had the best evening…the interiors are fabulous, retaining the old pub atmosphere, but combining with a modern design flair that bring the place to life. Food and service were both great!

   This was a great find. The pub is what a pub should be with great atmosphere, very good local ale on offer and great food. Accommodation was comfortable if a little rough round the edges (which I like and adds to the charm). Only downside was the couple in the next room arguing whilst drunk - Mark, if you're reading this, you're not boring and probably better off without her.

   We ate at the restaurant this evening. We had an early table (advised) for four and had an exceptional meal. The scotch egg was simply delicious, runny in the middle and delightfully crisp on the outside. The pork chop was amazing and the double chocolate brownie was probably the best I’ve ever tasted.
