My children have been swimming here for a couple of months and I'm sadly considering leaving. The instructors are really excellent and that's kept me going so far...but the centre is really dirty. All areas of the changing room are filthy, especially the floor and toilets. Unfortunately this extends upstairs to other toilets and the balcony viewing area. It makes the whole experience really unpleasant.

Been going this gym for a while now, new owners have definitely upgraded it. The equipment is up to date and gym is clean. I would say the air con in the upstairs gym needs improving. The heat from the pool travels upwards leading the upstairs gym to get very warm and workouts feeling more uncomfortable. Also the cables are quite stiff and probably need greasing. But other than that gym is very good

I have been going to the gym for some time and I feel that the standards have really declined over the last years. The cleaning towels are never stocked up properly and this creates a serious lack of hygiene. It isn’t the responsibility of the members, but the staff who appear to hide out the back of the reception area. The roof is always leaking with either buckets placed strategically throughout the gym or the floors are flooded. Finally it is very rare to have all the machines working which is frustrating when there is limited equipment available. I only go due to the convenience and proximity to work but if another gym opened locally I would be there in a heartbeat. I would be happy to discuss the issues with someone.

As a concerned parent, I feel compelled to share my experience regarding the swim academy at Freedom Leisure New Milton, where my daughter attended weekly swimming lessons from January 2025. While the swim instructors themselves were consistently excellent—demonstrating skill, patience, and dedication—the overall management of the programme raised serious concerns about child safety. On two separate occasions, I observed lessons being conducted with pupil-to-teacher ratios that exceeded safe and recommended limits. Most notably, one session involved 15 children under the supervision of a single instructor. This not only compromised the quality of instruction but also posed significant safety risks, with children frequently colliding in the water due to insufficient supervision. Swim England guidelines clearly state that lessons should operate with a maximum ratio of 12 pupils per instructor. Adhering to these standards is essential to ensure both the safety and effectiveness of swimming instruction. When I raised these concerns with the front desk staff, I was informed that a swim teacher had recently left and had not yet been replaced. Unfortunately, there was no clear indication of when this issue would be resolved. I also submitted a formal complaint to the centre manager over three weeks ago and have yet to receive any response. Due to these unresolved safety concerns, I have since moved my daughter to the swim programme at 2 Rivers Meet. I was reassured to learn that their classes operate with a maximum of 8 children per instructor and that lessons are cancelled if safe ratios cannot be maintained due to staff absence. I hope this feedback encourages Freedom Leisure New Milton to prioritise safety and communication moving forward.

I’ve been a member of this gym for 3 years now, and I have to say — the improvements the new owners have made are impressive. The facility has changed a lot over time, and mostly for the better! That said, I think it would be a great addition to have Smith machines upstairs, especially for the younger bodybuilders or those who are still developing their form and confidence. I understand if it’s not currently in the budget, but it would be an awesome upgrade to an already solid gym. Keep up the great work!

Since Freedom Leisure has taken over this gym, it has fallen apart. We are now on the second price hike since Freedom took over whilst the services here just deteriorate. Even to the point they have switched the WiFi off. The Sauna and Steam room have been shut down. The roof leaks in the gym, and buckets are just placed around the floor to catch the drips. Equipment is being held together by black tape, cleaning wipes for the machines are no longer being bought it’s an absolute disgrace. When you put a complaint in it’s just ignored. Nice job freedom Leisure!

İs there noone cleaning this gym and fixing things. Everything falling apart, there are still Christmas advertising on the screen in mod January. Hygiene is appealing!! Since Freedom leisure taking over its down the hill. I'm not going to Poole because I'm sure it's disgustingly dirty.

Would not recommend this leisure centre. The membership has now gone up to £44 a month this includes the sauna and steam room which are currently switched off along with the lights around the leisure centre. We were promised new gym equipment which never materialised unfortunately all we have had is numerous price increases. And they wonder why there losing customers who are going elsewhere.

Whilst I sympathise that a company like New Milton leisure is withdrawing services such as the sauna and steam, to then not compensate their members is completely unacceptable Be very careful what you sign up to, as when the company then chooses to change their services, don’t expect any form of compensation

Good gym in a convenient location. My daughter swims here once a week too so handy that it's close by. Staff are very helpful and the facilities clean and tidy. Worth joining if you are an avid gym goer.
