“Lovely place to have breakfast. Always clean and friendly. Breakfast really tasty. Sausages, bacon, eggs, beans, hash browns, all really tasty. Looking forward to going there again.”

“All the staff are amazing especially Davis, Sonia, Mimi & several others. Everyone is super pleasant, always go over and above to make you feel comfortable. You never have to wait long for your food or drinks. I’m a regular goer and honestly I love this cafe. It’s very family orientated, whether you go with a bunch of friends, family or by yourself you never feel lonely in there. Everyone is super kind. The coffee is super fresh and really tasty, as for the food don’t even get me started. I have tried many such as the jacket potatoes with salad, the porridge with cinnamon, honey and banana, the kale smoothies from time to time and all the food I have tried is fresh and really nice. They always take pride in providing fresh food which is always presented to such a high standard. The staff are a blessing and in a place where the overall area isn’t the best this place is deffo doing erdington justice. They focus a lot on the community and it is really nice to have something like this in the erdington area.”

“Been meaning to come here for a while, heard good things and I wasnt disappointed. Firstly thr location is pretty good, close to town but far enough so you can get easily parked. There is free parking just outside for at least 2 hours, plenty of time. Upon entering,there's a cool water feature with the cafe logo. Thr ambience is nice and it's decorated very nicely. The staff are really nice too very friendly and the food and drinks is served very quick. We went at a busy time and still got our drinks n food pretty quickly. Thr food itself is great very tasty nice range and perfect for breakfast or lunch. I had a persian breakfast and the flavours were great. The drinks were really nice too and made fresh and nicely presented. Overall it was a great experience and will definitely be back!!”

“Top mark's for being open, after most other good coffee shops had closed. A notable mention also, for taking Amex, when many places do not (not judging, I get it, but, nice for me that Elio do). Burnt Basque Cheesecake, if you please. That's cool. Atmosphere is light, bright, and airy (and a bit noisy, like most big spaces are). And the coffee? Expertly poured, for sure. Good stuff. Edit: OMG, I've just devoured the cheesecake .... absolutely superb.”

“Amazing place to eat from, delicious food, a lot of variety to choose from, coffees, smoothies, pasta, rice, lasagna, pasties, croissants and many more. I recommend checking this place out and trying the Morrocan tea and Chicken Pasta.”

“The windlass cafe is a very friendly and welcoming cafe, all staff are friendly and polite. We sat outside with our dog and the lady came out with a dog biscuit for our dog. Very dog friendly. Great location near to the locks. Food and drink very nice.”

“This is a relatively new establishment and every details appears to have been catered for. Very friendly staff and customers, a great menu catering for most tastes. The place was spotless and with great outdoor seating options. It was well worth the trip out and the farm shop next door has a super selection of pet foods, preserves and eggs.”

“I had the nicest, fattest bacon sandwich. There was at least 4 rashers as apose to the 2 most places give you. It was quite possibly the best bacon sandwich I've had. The staff are welcoming and unlike a lot of the food establishments such as the 2 chippy's they accept card payments.”

Prices are very reasonable, offering great value for the quality of food and service you receive. As an added bonus, there's a car valeting service right next door, making it convenient to get your car cleaned while you dine. (Which is why I visit regularly) In summary, I highly recommend this cafe for a visit. Whether you're a local or just passing through, it's a place that promises a wonderful traditional breakfast experience, especially if you're in the mood for a 'full english' or a tasty sandwich.”

“Loved the vibe of this cafe, the food was excellent too. They've got houseplants and cacti, plus cards and art for sale. We had pancakes and smashed avocado on toast with poached eggs, and both dishes were tasty and good value. The only low point was the food took a while to come out, but they'd just had a food delivery so were quite busy. Overall, a great place for brunch right on knowle high street. We'll be visiting again.”

In this day and age of chains taking up all the high street places these sort of little independent places are much needed. You can have a proper chat if you wish and the owner Tracey does all the baking so she is able to answer all your querries. We were also served today by a lovely lady by the name of Kelly.”

“Had a lovely bacon and egg sandwich cooked and prepared just how I liked it, could not have wished for a better place to eat it in either, it was clean and tidy, the staff were friendly and welcoming, I even went back later for a slice of home made lemon drizzle cake which was well worth the money I paid, will definitely be seeing me again in the near future”
