“We ate lunch today Saturday 12th July at The Balerno Inn for my mother's 87th birthday. We were a mixed age group of 8 and there was something for each of us. The food was absolutely delicious, we really couldn't fault it in any way. Service was attentive in all the right ways. There is a lovely little playground so our grandson of 16months was entertained there until his food was ready. Everyone was so friendly as well. I would highly recommend this place for all occasions.”

“Decided to stay at the Riccarton Inn while working in the area and glad I did. Rooms are basic, but comfortable and are perfect for my needs. The bar seems very popular with locals, despite this, the service is swift and even though we have only been there once we were well attended to. The food is excellent, as is the beer! I will be back in the area in a couple of weeks and will be booking into The Riccarton Inn. Don't be put off by the lack of an available breakfast, just head along to Molly's or Corner Cafe for a fantastic breakfast. It's understandable that no breakfast is provided as there are only 5 bedrooms.”

“The sandwiches at the pub quiz are great as that's the food the service. Service and atmosphere. The staff are friendly and professional. It's a friendly pub and everyone is welcome. I highly recommend the quiz on a Thursday 50pp entry but that includes sandwiches or recently fantastic pizzas and a chance of winning at least £50. Adam's questions can however be a bit questionable but the forfeit round makes it a lot more interesting. We have however managed to win on 3 occasions in the last year.”

“Very nice hotel and the staff and breakfast were excellent. The problem I had was finding the hotel as it is on Edinburgh University campus area and there is no signage on the side of the hotel facing the road. The room was really nice with interesting lighting features. They do offer free parking and it is 6 minutes from the airport”

“We visited Corner Curry House and had a wonderful evening from start to finish. We began with papadom and chutney, which were crisp, fresh, and full of flavour. For starters, we went for the mix pakora and chicken pakora — both served hot, well-seasoned, and perfectly fried. The chicken pakora was especially tender with a satisfying crunch. For our mains, we enjoyed the chicken tikka masala and lamb bhuna. The tikka masala was rich, creamy, and comforting, while the lamb bhuna had tender pieces of lamb in a deep, aromatic sauce. We paired these with pilau rice and paratha bread, both of which were excellent — fluffy rice and a soft, warm paratha ideal for scooping up the curries. Although the restaurant has a bring-your-own policy, which allowed my wife and me to enjoy our own bottle of wine, they also offered a good range of soft drinks. We tried a J2O and a Fanta, both refreshing and nicely chilled. For dessert, we tried the gulab jamun, which was warm, sweet, and beautifully soft — a perfect finish to the meal. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Extra tip: Corner Curry House also offers delivery and collection, perfect if you want to enjoy their food at home.”

“Came here recently for the first time and I found the place clean and service-friendly, food was freshly made and crazy cheap but didn't lack in quality of ingredients. I got the (special haddock supper) for £10 and was amazed to see that the chips were plentiful and fluffy and that they gave me 3! Fried fish fillets Even tho the fillets were a bit thin I can't complain, couldn't even finish it all after a long day of cycling. Definitely would come again!”

I've shared a few meals from here with my dad and no matter how full we feel after scoffing the generous portions, we're already planning what to try next time and how soon that should be! Everything is beautifully cooked and full of flavour and it's so consistently good. Lovely staff too!”

“Absolutely recommend Javits! The staff are friendly, helpful and just great at what they do. The food is by far the best in my area. I've been to every other takeaway within maybe 3 or 4 miles and Javits is by far the best. Hot tasty food delivered quickly! What more could I ask? Definitely be back! ”
