“I just dropped in on Friday night, after a gig. The people could not have been more welcoming. So much so that me, my girlfriend and the dog spent a lively Saturday night there. Simple, proper, honest pub with a great atmosphere.”

“What a fab events bar! We booked it for a children's party and it was perfect. The staff were super helpful and very friendly. Plenty of room for the entertainment and dancing. The food was laid out in a separate adjoining area which was really useful. Very easy to book and reasonably priced too!”

“We were here for my husband s Aunties wake. And boy did they do her proud. Plenty of seating. Clean and tidy. Staff lovely and friendly. The food was excellent. You want everything to run smoothly and it certainly did. Toilets clean and accessible.”

“The service station is Not the type of place I usually frequent, usually traditional pubs, But what a great place. I came for the live music. Two acoustic artists and a great live band (luna crash). It's a good venue, a nice stage plenty of seating and some cosy booths and a pool table. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. There is a good choice of beers, cider and larger. They even have a hand pulled cask, conditioned real ale. We had a brilliant night. We will be back for the rock night. Highly recommended.”

“Three of us booked for the Christmas dinner and Bingo on 18 th Dec . It was due to start 6,30 but we arrived around an hour earlier to have a drink . It was not a problem at all , we got seated by Rosie straight away . Heads up to everyone who worked very hard for us all to have a fabulous time . I love gammon , so Ben carved up the gammon for me and there was a choice of sprouts parsnips, roast potatoes ,carrots ,peas and mash .Oh and don't forget the delicious Yorkies all smothered in lovely gravy . I must say everyone worked very hard including Ellie, Paige ,Alex , Rosie ,Ben ... So sorry if I missed anyone out ! Bingo was great fun in between the main course and the lovely Xmas Pud for dessert. Would recommend to anyone as the best carvery and staff in Hull. “My colleague and I went to Al Porto Italian restaurant on Thursday and were blown away by our food! The restaurant has a really nice, chilled out vibe, but still holds a level of class. I had the duck liver to start followed by the best risotto I've ever tasted. My colleague had the garlic prawns to start and the spaghetti carbonara for his main. All of the food was lovely”

“I recently visited Ponto Lounge ahead of a visit to Hull New Theatre. I have visited a number of the ‘Lounges’ and have found the dining experience to be consistently great; Ponto was no exception. Staff were welcoming and professional. I have rated the service as average as with QR code ordering and payment you are more or less serving yourself with the exception of the drinks and food being brought to table. The food arrived quickly after ordering despite the restaurant seeming pretty busy and was absolutely delicious. The restaurant was warm and cosy with just the right around of atmospheric lighting (not too dark like other places trying to achieve a similar vibe). I highly recommend Ponto Lounge to anyone looking for somewhere to eat in Hull.”

“Party of four, we had a chicken burger, beef brisket, pizza, and the meat platter, with a side of loaded fries and nachos. Everything was well cooked, the brisket just fell apart in your mouth the burnt ends melted, the chicken burger was crispy and full of flavour. The pizza was nice and thin, if a little burnt on the edges, but it was still great. Staff were good, and in a surprising change, they didn't keep coming to the table disrupting you while eating. Although it was difficult to get their attention when we wanted drinks. It was quiet when we visited but it had a nice chilled atmosphere, the cost was about £35 a person with drinks which we don't think is bad for the food quality. We will definitely be revisiting in the future.”

“Nice little place, eat in or take away.. I had the bacon and sausage sandwich. Was really tasty. Others had chip butties and said they were lovely. It was quiet when we 1st went in but got busier as time went on. Toilets are upstairs so no good for people with mobility issues.”

“Popped in during the summer for a drink and noticed how good the meals looked so I promised myself to get back. Well the food did not disappoint, two of us had the beef and ale pie and my OH had halloumi burger and chips. Portions are generous and none of us could finish our meals. The food itself was excellent, the beef pie was perfection as were the homemade chips. My partner enjoyed her halloumi burger but her fries were not as good as my homemade ones. The service was good and the two girls behind the bar were friendly. The puddings look very good but we didn't bother today. A lovely afternoon out see you again soon. *** EDIT*** Been back today 15/4/25, Cant believe its been four months since our last visit. This time two of us had the fish and chips and I have to say the quality of the fish was top notch, the batter was absolutely perfect and it was all cooked perfectly. My Partner had the Halloumi burger again and really enjoyed. But this visit we had the grandkids with us. The eldest decided to have the Nachos for his main( its a starter for sharing) it was huge and really tasty whilst the youngest just had the pizza and chips off the kids menu, Beer was spot on and service was efficient and friendly. Well done The Duke team, wont leave if so long till my next visit.”

“No food served so ignore the food rating i left. The pub is nice, its old and yeah its quiet and laid back, ignore comments about bad atmosphere, only a pub for regulars etc this simply isnt true. You will have no issues if you arent an idiot, yes you will get told off for using ur phone, for swearing, blasting music etc, its a sam smiths pub, thats how they all are and have always been, its not some chav pub, if you cant abide by the well known rules just dont go lmao.”

“This was a superb pub for drinking, with a lively old Tudor interior! The classic pub imagery on the walls and ceilings adds a quirkiness, counter has a compact design. I enjoyed a pint of Mango Cider, sitting at a large table with comfy seats!”

“Eaten here now on a few occasions. The food here is excellent. The steak pie is to die for and had the fish yesterday. Best piece of fish I have had in ages. Not greasey one bit. Hate fish when all wet and sloppy. Not here it was cooked perfect. Def be back again.”
