“The Open University showed enormous empathy when I was struggling to function. Unbeknownst to me I had exhausted my personal store of vitamin B12 and folic acid. I was losing my ability to focus and often had to re-read previously read text more than once. I feared narrowing of the main arteries in my brain, and began to despair. I was fortunate. Despite surviving a previous atypical stroke, my brain and body were simply short of 2 chemicals: vitamin B12 and folic acid. A metabolic disorder. I cast around for an explanation. I began to compare and contrast my current diet with my childhood diet. My childhood diet was full of root vegetables, peas, beans and other nutrient dense goodies. I have now returned to my childhood diet. I feel amazing. My weight ballooned by 8st in 6 years! I spent long hours in bed reserving my energy for critical activity only. I changed the layout of my bedroom. This process took many months of careful financial planning. I now have so much more than I did before. I am rich with an abundance of blessings. I am so grateful to the Open University. Had the student mentoring team not been paying attention, I might have struggled on, clueless, as to my short-term memory loss issues. “My son loves going to nursery now. He excitedly runs to get to press the doorbell to go in and comes out smiling at pick up. It wasn't an easy start for him as he hadn't been away from me apart from with a couple of other family members before. Staff were accommodating and mindful of his needs and discussed with me how to help him settle and worked to find a strategy that made him feel nursery was a safe space. They were also very kind when I had my own little wobble as I was feeling worried about the whole situation. I love that new activities are set up each day. Pictures of these and of what the kids are up to are posted on the private parents facebook group a couple times a day. It means we can show my son and chat about his day and what is going on at nursery. It helps build his speech, but also allows us to learn more about who is important to him at nursery and what he enjoys even though he isn't yet able to express it fully in words. My son enjoys being outside. With the nursery's vast garden and free flow between in and outdoors most of the time, he clearly makes the most of it. Good wipe down coat advisable.”

The first time we went to view the nursery, we were amazed at the space the children have to play and explore. The staff are always welcoming and ready to have a chat about your child's progress. A lot of times when my daughter comes back from nursery, she role plays her experience with her dolls and teddy bears like she is teaching them, that really helps me to see how she is developing. Brandon at Highbury Fitness First has been teaching my 11 and almost 13 year old sons in one lesson and my just turned 4yr old in a different lesson. He’s friendly and professional and his lessons are structured very well with all 3 children understanding the skills they are working on and how to achieve their goals. Theres been a massive improvement in both their confidence and ability over a short period of time and they all look forward to their lesson each week. I would highly recommend Swimming Nature and also Brandon as a teacher.”
