“The community rebuilt this park cafe and it is an excellent facility enjoyed by everyone who uses the park and Claygate Primary School. My wife was injured on the way to The Bear, and we couldn’t have been met with more kindness and care. The staff went above and beyond, and Tracy was an absolute gem—warm, genuine, and made us feel like we were staying with friends rather than in a hotel. This stay really highlighted the contrast with one of the sister hotels we visited, which lacked the same warmth and charm. It’s our second time at The Bear—we stayed last year, and although my wife was initially hesitant about staying in a pub setting, she ended up loving it so much that it topped her list for this year’s trip. We noticed several subtle improvements since our last visit—small touches that really add up and elevate the overall experience. It’s clear that care and attention to detail are a priority here. If we had one minor complaint, it would be the limited parking, but it’s a small trade-off for such a welcoming and comfortable stay. Top rated—we’d love to return again.”

“Absolutely delicious! We had a chicken tikka biryani and a chicken tikka karahi, delivered to eat at home, and the food was outstanding. My biryani was perfectly cooked to my preferred level of heat, and was packed with meat, the sauce full of vegetables. The karahi likewise had big tender chunks of chicken, and the onions brought a lovely sweetness to the sauce. The portions were generous too :) I'll certainly be ordering from there again.”

Our son settled instantly and absolutely loves his nursery days, we have such confidence in all of the staff who look after him. We are given lots of information about his day and activities he has taken part in daily. The staff are attentive, they work to such high standards and are so supportive to both the children and families. They go above and beyond and always give us their time.
