“Attended a wake here on 5th December. Ample car parking space at the rear of pub, friendly bar staff, and a great choice of drink....including Guinness.”

“I have been using Carl's for many years and through a change in management from the Irish couple to the Asian owners. I usually order in advance as i like my fish well done with chips and scraps all wrapped separately and they've always accommodated. Portion size is generous and can feed more than 1 person. It's practical for me as on the way home and always been able to park in front of the shop. Service is friendly and no fee for card payment. The quality of the food is good. Plenty of other options on the menu but have always stuck to the traditional fish and chips. I would recommend.”

“Attended a function here recently. I liked it. The function room was a decent size and well laid out. Bar well stocked with decent menu too for snacking (nuggets and chips etc). Hardworking pleasant staff. Nice outdoor area. All in all not bad at all”

“Great pub/bar in Mexborough with loads of drink choices at very reasonable prices e.g. 6 bottles of Bud in an ice bucket for £14 (as of March 2024). Loads of seating, both inside and out with snooker and pool tables available, as well as a DJ on weekends. ☆☆☆☆☆”

“Do try the Christmas pizzas excellent! Dad had the afternoon fish and chips always tremendous value. Some excellent draught ales available others not so ! Broke my golden rule try before you buy please please do this as one pint was definitely not a pleaser so tried all the other offerings on tasters and selected an outstanding pint for my sister, she's a Yorkshire lass and likes a good pint. Staff were as ever polite, friendly and engaging also a good laugh. Not always found in a lot of pubs these days.”

“This is only my second visit here and we decided to try the carvery and we're glad we did. Quickly served at the bar for drinks and ordering food. No problem finding a table mid week but would be wise to book on a weekend. Had a choice of 3 meats, 3 sorts of potatoes and 7 vegetables. I had the beef & pork with roast potato, roast carrot, broccoli, cauliflower, Swede (thankfully not mashed) white cabbage,leeks, crackling and gravy. I didn't have a Yorkshire pudding but my husband said his was beautiful. Would definitely recommend.”

“I love to go shopping in this little supermarket. It is clean ,well organised and you can find food from different countries. The prices they are not bed. The guy selling hire is very friendly and polite. Last time I was asking him if he could bring a vegetable, and he was happy to help me out. I highly recommend this shop.”

“Absolutely amazing little spot beside the canal, located in the new Gorilla Beer Hall! The menu is fab and caters to all, with meat & vegan options. Really good value for money & portion size is fantastic. Mac and cheese bits are sublime! We will definitely be returning.”
