“It was my husband who discovered this place for our dinner with friends. Great vibes and love the fact it is a community pub. My starter of the Korean cauliflower was absolutely amazing and I could have very happily eaten a larger portion as a main. For my main however, I went for the pesto bread and butter pudding and again this was delicious. My husband and friends enjoyed their meals. I was too full for pudding but as I wasn't driving, I enjoyed the special cocktail, whiskey sour, before we headed home. Good vegetarian options.”

“At last! A proper pub with proper beer, where you can have a proper conversation without intrusive TV screens and not given over to diners rather than drinkers. The Shrewsbury Arms has been completely and tastefully redecorated, with William Morris pattern wallpapers throughout. We (two couples) went on a Wednesday evening where a generous selection of cheese, pate and salami + biscuits was available - all free! There were plenty of customers there, although like many 'wet' pubs I can imagine it could be pretty quiet at times. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back. PS: Did I mention that the beer was excellent? I can recommend Pig On The Wall... Edit: Typo”

“The Habitat: Atmosphere and Environmental Fitness The environment of 'La Lanterna' demonstrates a remarkable adaptation for conviviality. The lighting levels were found to be optimal, avoiding both the harsh luminosity that might signal danger and the deep gloom that impedes accurate species identification. The overall ambiance—the combination of visual, auditory, and olfactory stimuli—created an environment of 'Great Atmosphere', which is crucial for the successful ingestion and digestion of resources. The collective murmur of conversation among fellow consumers suggested a high degree of social satisfaction within the population. The décor and spatial arrangement demonstrated an intelligent, calculated use of resources to promote comfort and repose, thus aiding the consumer in focusing maximum energy on the task of consumption. Hypothesis on Atmosphere: A pleasing and supportive environment reduces the consumer's physiological stress, likely enhancing the perceived success and enjoyment of the culinary offering. The Symbionts: Facilitation and Service The indigenous personnel responsible for the delivery and explanation of the specimens—the service staff—displayed a highly evolved degree of efficiency and beneficial interaction. Their performance may be classified as 'Fantastic Service'. Efficiency: The speed and accuracy of resource transfer (the food delivery) exhibited a high level of learned behavior and organizational skill. Adaptability: Requests for minor deviations from the standard specimen preparation were met with flexible and immediate responses, highlighting a key trait of behavioural plasticity essential for pleasing a diverse consumer base. Communication: The interactions were polite and informative, acting as crucial intermediaries between the kitchen's production and the consumer's need for knowledge regarding the specimens. Hypothesis on Service: The facilitating species (staff) exhibits a successful symbiotic relationship with the consumer. Their competent actions maximize the consumer's enjoyment, thereby increasing the likelihood of resource return (patronage), a crucial factor in the establishment's long-term survival and prosperity. Final Synthesis on La Lanterna La Lanterna represents a highly successful ecosystem where excellent culinary specimens (Gnocchi Gorgonzola and Steak Pasta) are presented in an environment of Great Atmosphere and facilitated by Fantastic Service. This convergence of high-quality internal and external factors ensures the enterprise's evolutionary advantage in the competitive landscape of the urban dining habitat. Outstanding.”

“Love this place. We only come when there’s a late night at the market because we don’t do lunch. It’s always a treat. Consistently good. Fantastic dumplings and wings ( if you get them before they’re sold out)”

“What a gem of a local pub! Second time we have been here now and it has never failed to falter. The staff are amazing and so helpful and accommodating. Regulars in the the bar area are friendly and chatty. And the food is to die for. If its not on the menu, they will try to find it for you anyway. This is the only place we will eat now in Wem. Cheers guys”
