Excellent from the first email to enquire about booking all the way through to arriving and throughout our 2 night stay. What a team this hotel has, Mandy and Colleen were superb and the Chef on New Years Eve was fabulous with superb meals throughout our stay. The service staff were also fabulous and friendly too. All areas from reception, bar area, dining room, breakfast room and the hotel rooms were immaculate, quality in decoration, plenty of provisions in the hotel room, ranging from drinks, hairdryer, kettle and the toiletries and shower body washes were top quality. The Jacuzzi area and facilities looked amazing - next times we visit we will bring our swimwear to take advantage of that facility. The location of the Hotel is perfect, if you drive the car park is an added bonus, and even if you travel by rail - the railway station is only a short 10 minute walk away. The walk into York centre takes the same time walking being 10 minutes and it is a lovely walk close to the Minster and centre of York. I must repeat myself is sitting that the whole experience at Hedley House Hotel was stunning and the cleanliness and quality throughout the building and all the staff was brilliant, we will return and I cannot recommend this Hotel enough to anyone.

I stayed here for one night with my boyfriend as were visiting the Christmas Markets. The staff were so friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. The location is great, just a short walk to the city center and they have optional parking upon request. The breakfast the next morning was also lovely. I would stay here again if I ever find myself in York again.

My sister and I really enjoyed our one night stay at the Hedley House Hotel. The reception staff were friendly and very helpful with directions around York and to the Barbican (where we were attending a concert). The hotel was very comfortable, clean and tidy. Our twin room was lovely. And it was only a short walk to the train station which we discovered on our way back (a shortcut shown to us by one of Hedley House team!). We would highly recommend this hotel.

Firstly the positives: Location excellent for city centre and train station and in a less noise than centre. We booked a deluxe room and all the little extras were very welcome. Staff helpful - we got soaked through on first night and they dried out our clothes in their dryer. Good selection for breakfast but we booked direct which seems to be the answer to get all options. Negatives: The radiator in our room didn’t work (hence why we couldn’t dry our clothes in the room). We reported it on the first morning and by the time we left 3 days later it still wasn’t working. Luckily enough the weather was mild but it was November so easily it could have been very cold. The room was supplied with a comprehensive information book in which it stated that home cooked evening meals were available every evening except Saturday. Although it recommended to book a table in advance it also stated it wasn’t a necessity. We wanted to eat in the hotel on our last evening so enquired about booking a table the evening before and was told to book in the morning. So the following morning we asked to book a table and were told no…..it wasn’t available that night!!!! We had wanted to stay in that night so that we could celebrate my husband’s birthday as we had spent the last two nights in wet weather. Luckily enough it didn’t rain that night.

We had a fantastic overnight stay and would highly recommend it. The rooms were spotlessly clean, spacious and very comfortable with quality toiletries and soft towels. The room decor might look a little dated but this is the only thing about this hotel that I would suggest could be improved. The hotel looks unassuming and understated from the outside but is a real gem, from the location, the daily yoga classes to the garden area, hot tub and wellness treatments as well as the off road parking. The staff were just lovely, helpful and friendly. The common areas were smart, welcoming and comfortable. The breakfast menu was varied, made to order and a choice to suit everyone. The location is perfect for walking into town - less than ten minutes and was easy to access by car. I can completely understand why guests return here. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.

Second visit to this hotel with my daughter, everything was perfect, the room was spacious and lovely and warm, the breakfast delicious. All of the staff we met were friendly and helpful, the only problem was we couldn’t stay longer. We will definitely be back and would recommend to everyone.

Really friendly and attentive host and staff. Rooms beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. Excellent quality and luxurious toiletries. Had a fantastic deep tissue massage from Emily followed by a relaxing time in the hot tub. Brilliant weekend retreat. Thank you! ☺️

Great location - 4/5 minute walk from rear end of the train station, 3/4 minute walk to the Minster. Clean, comfortable good sized rooms with all usual amenities. Breakfast was average but adequate. I did not use the spa and massage or yoga facilities, but an option for future stays. I would recommend
